If touring your local pedestrian precincts as a Town Crier for Christ this summer, talk slow & emphasise the consonants

Wind direction alters acoustics, so call, "Soundcheck: testing, testing!" in each possible direction & pitch your message where it sounds best

If you continually turn your head while speaking, you'll find folk in other directions can't distinguish the words - many street preachers have loud voices, but as they don't emphasise consonants/talk too fast for acoustics. etc, & go on far too long for passers-by to catch their whole message, they are exhausting themselves to no purpose

I use 1/2 sentences every 30/50 yards & many young folk follow & transmit my mesages to pals via moby - inc film

Many folk think prayer is all, but the Grerat Commission of Matt 28 & Mark 16 is to preach

As Romans 10 says

Reflecting Him


Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness. (NIV) Psalm 29:2

AW Tozer writes: "Worship is the effort to close the gap between the heart and the God it adores." God wants us to worship Him, to acknowledge who He is. Worship shows our devotion to God. It's an act of giving ourselves to God. When you spend time with God, try beginning your time by coming to Him in worship. . .praising Him for who He is!

HOW DO YOU WORSHIP GOD? Here are a few ways to praise God:

PRAISE GOD IN SONG. . .if you're not a singing sort, try reading some hymns

PRAISE GOD FOR HIS CHARACTER TRAITS. . . for His lovingkindness, His grace, His power, His mercy, etc.

PRAISE GOD THROUGH HIS NAMES. . . try going through the alphabet. . . A: Abba, B: Bread of Life, C: Creator, etc.

PRAISE GOD BY PRAYING BACK PRAYERS IN THE BIBLE - 1 Chronicles 16:7-10; 1 Chronicles 29:10-13; Daniel 2:19-23; Luke 1:57-69, etc.

PRAISE GOD BY PRAYING PSALMS BACK TO GOD. . . Psalm 62, 89, 93, etc.

Praise centers our attention on God. As we focus on God's glory, we reflect on God's greatness and receive it into our lives. We become more like God, when we focus our attention solely on Him (2 Corinthians 3:18).

What are you reflecting to others? What would others say you're reflecting to the world? Does your face reflect God's glory? Why not focus your praise on Him and allow Him to transform you into His likeness with ever-increasing glory?

Q: How can you tell whether it's God speaking to you or the devil? Last year, I had a very strong feeling that I ought to do something, and I thought God must be telling me to do it. But it turned out to be very wrong, and now I think it must have been the devil. But how could I have known? -- Mrs. B.McF.


A: As you look back, what made you decide God was leading you? I don't know the answer to that, of course, but I suspect the reason was an emotional conviction on your part -- a strong feeling that this path must be right.

But our feelings and emotions can be tricky, and they can deceive us -- especially if we depend on them alone for making a decision. God has given us our emotions, and they are important -- but God also has given us our mental abilities, and when we face a decision, we also need to look at it carefully and logically.

Part of discerning God's will is to ask Him to help us see all sides of an issue -- sometimes with help from others we trust.

Emotion and intellect aren't enough, however. When we face a decision, we need to do it prayerfully, trusting God to lead us. We also need to do it in light of God's Word, the Bible. God will never lead you to do something that is not in accord with the Bible -- never.

The Bible says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight" (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Make sure of your commitment to Christ, and then submit every decision you face to Him. When we sincerely want God's will above all else, He will help us know what is right.
