Quick Overview

The Late Great United States: What Bible Prophecy Reveals about America's Last Days

Product Description

Is it possible the United States, a superpower without peer in history, might not be a key player as the world makes its way down the road to the Battle of Armageddon?

This is the central question explored by prophecy expert Mark Hitchcock in The Late Great United States, a fascinating behind-the-headlines look at numerous current events and how they relate to what the Bible says about the last days.

Americans are accustomed to seeing their country center stage as a world power, but as Hitchcock carefully details, this may not be the case in the final scene. Based on extensive research of the Bible and other sources, The Late Great United States provides compelling and often surprising answers to questions like these:
•Does the Bible say anything about America in the last days?
•How could the U.S. fit into God’s prophetic plan?
•Will America survive?
•Might the anti-Christ come from America?
•Could America’s addiction to oil be her undoing?
•Will America be destroyed by a nuclear attack?
•Could America fall from within as a result of moral corruption?
•Is America still a “blessed” nation?
•How should individual Christians respond to a world in chaos?

Regardless of America's final fate and the outcome of dire events at the end of the age, Hitchcock urges us to find our hope in a God who will not forsake us–no matter what cataclysms we experience on earth.

Customerreview not sure the US is in Bible prophecy
I think it takes a vivid imagination and wide open mind to see the US in Bible prophecy. There are widespread views whether the US is referred to in the Bible and where. I don't think anyone is convincing either way. It seems that current events are used to speculate on what may happen to the US based on principles in the Bible. I would view this book as an editorial opinion and not fret over it.

Of course, when Gog and Magog come against Israel sometime in the future, the Bible says that Israel will be miraculously delivered from their armies by the hand of God. This could indicate that the US will no longer exist as we know it, has turned away from Israel or is too weak to come to Israel's defense. Who really knows? It may be revealed in due time.

The Late Great United States
This book is very interesting. I never thought of the United States not being here. Mark Hitchcock refers to Scripture all through the book. The Scripture tells us what is going to happen to the United States, even in the Old Testiment.

I would recommend this book to anyone interested in the end times.

MY HUSBAND IS REALLY ENJOYING THIS BOOK. HE IS A REAL PROPHECY
READER. SURE WE WILL PURCHASE3 MORE AT A LATER DATE.

USA and Endtimes
This is a good read about the United States in the endtimes. I really like what the author had to say about a possible reason that America is not mentioned in the details of the last days. The United States has the largest Christian population in the world and the pre-tribulation rapture would alter the political, military, economic, and relgious make-up forever. It would turn a first world nation into a second or third. I also like his explantion of the judgement of America using Romans. It is the most balanced around.

interesting - not convincing - questionable claims
This book is about the USA and Biblical prophecy with emphasis on the "rapture" and its effects.
.
If you don't believe in prophecy andor the rapture you will not like this book.
.
If you do believe, then this book will give you one guy's poorly supported views (wrt arguments where proof is vital) on what is going to happen to the USA.
.
It is his opinion and speculation. Which may be interesting, or not; but has no real value.
.
Unfortunately at some key points he just makes claims with no evidence.
.
And he uses erroneous logic in other places.
I am guessing he is a traditional party line evangelical type of some unnamed sect.
The problem is that these types think that anyone who disagrees with them is a cult or worse. And that they know everything.
.
Surprise. There are at least 3 schools of thought about the rapture. Early, middle, or late trib; and the experts can't agree on that.
Which view you take, will change the details of predictions for the USA's future. Although the big picture is the same no matter how you see it.
.
Those trib_view guys usually get along. But if someone else uses the Bible to actually predict what is going to happen in the future , and was proven correct, they all get bent out of shape and fling adhominems because an "outsider" showed them up.
.
This book did not blatantly do that, but did put down the one person who has used the Bible to correctly tell in advance of events that happened. And used faulty logic in doing so.
.
Perhaps that person was lucky, or used other means to aid in their prediction. A correct prediction doesn't prove they are Biblically correct either.

But as the bookie says, the race is not always to the swift or the battle to the strong but taht is the way to bet. I would lean to considering the guy who had success instead of the ones who just write opinionated books.
.
Now that said it does not take a genius to know the USA is screwed up and going down for the count. Economy, Jobs, environment, energy and water shortages, loss of freedom, wars, terrorism, whatever, everything is getting worse.
.
Was that prophecied? Maybe. Who really can understand all the prophets and what they said applies to today? They can't even agree on more obvious things like when the rapture will occur. And some even question that it will.
.
Whether or not the USA is affected by prophecy, the big picture about the USA and its future should be clear to all but the dollar worshipping neocons , as well as the you can spend it all without paying it back liberals. The USA jumped the shark in 1950 and has been going downhill ever since.
.
A better book to explain what is going on, and how/why would be The Great Reckoning by Davidson and Rees-Mogg.
Now, did God put those circumstances in place so that prophecy about the USA would come true?
Don't know, can't say.
.
What is clear is that the end of the world scenario has been claimed many times previously with people going to mountain tops to await the end. Is the end finally imminent? or will this just be another false alarm (or warning bell trying to wake up the USA to return to faith in Christ?) Who really knows ??
.
Nobody knows when the end will be. Certainly not the day or hour. I doubt the details of events are known either, although the big picture is discussed in The Revelation. Which brings us back to a fundamental issue of which are the correct books that belong in the Bible and were any omitted , or were lost, that should be in it?
.
Read this book for entertainment, not specific enlightenment.
