I want to start a thread for Christian poetry. It can be something your wrote of something you found. This is my most controversial poem to Jesus. At one time I wanted to be a nun.

My Awaited Suitor

My heart pines away and I sing the blues.
I ask now and then: "Where are you?"
Are you real? Are you there for me"
When will it happen? When will it be?

I face the horizon and I take God's hand.
In great expectation I look over the land.
Nothing happens; oh woe is me.
When will I see him? When shall it be?

With tears in my eyes, I look up and smile.
God cups my face and after awhile.
He softly speaks and breaks the news.
I am the one who was chosen for you.
Can you love me year after year, as you would have loved him if he had appeared?

My face grew pale. My body shook.
I took his hand to frightened to look.
Then I agreed to give it a try.
My Suitor was here.
He had finally arrived.

Baptized, baptized
I am with Christ
He is on the throne
He has all control

I trust, I trust
My life to Christ
Everything I know
He is God alone

I must, I must
Believe in Christ
And my life will flow
With the Godly glow

I rise, I rise
To live with Christ
Anywhere I go
He's my corner stone

Susannah you really bring something fresh to Christian forums in my opinion.

I will add a poem or two. Forgive my sometimes childish humour. i dont think God minds to be honest.

I asked God for comfort and ease
Instead He sent me hardship and chronic disease
He said "You need to be grateful
Oh and by the way, less hateful"
I replied "Its really hard to love
Maybe you could send your dove"

"I"m not your slave, you sinful wretch!
How about just plain respect!
You need to suffer more I see!
Have some of this......@#$@$$*
and get back to me!!

I think it okay to speak frankly to God and very much enjoyed the "POV" poem. You know already that He knew you, utterly, when you were first called. Not only who you were and are and will be but also who you, together with Him, will become. It has not even entered into the mind of man what God has prepared for him.

Thank you.

A short poem by Sparrow:

"The Futility of Man"
I met myself in a dark place
And upon looking around
And seeing nothing
I suggested that we do it again.

Jesus

You gave me life, and nurtured my soul.
You prayed for me, till I was whole.
You cried for me, when I was in pain.
Your tears soothed my sorrow, like life-giving rain.
I treated you badly – my anger unfurled.
You always forgave me, despite all I hurled.
Now I've found peace; my spirit is free.
From the depth of my soul, I want to thank thee.
For I know what a burden I had to have been.
Yet somehow you loved me despite all my sins.

My son wrote this to me when my book, Where Love Abides, got published

Where Love Abides

Karl McKnight
[to my mom]

There is a place where love abides . . .
Maybe it exits beyond the stars.
Maybe it lives in the soul.
Maybe it lies under a rock after the blood runs cold.

Maybe it shines in a simple smile.
Maybe it echoes in a child’s laugh.
Maybe it is treasure we find along the path.
Maybe it patiently awaits in a story untold.

Maybe it eludes in dreams of a lonely heart.
Maybe it is the promise that will never depart.
Maybe it got burned in flames of desire.
Maybe its breathe is kin to fire.

Maybe it is a race ran to the wire.
Maybe it occupies the flank on our wounded pride.
Maybe it drives our need to belong.
Maybe it is only heard in the rhythm of our song.

Maybe it rests on the rock of ages.
Maybe it is whispered on the lips of sages.
Maybe it is shared in the air we share.
Maybe it signature is the comic flare.

Maybe it pays the cost when all is lost.
Maybe it is the slave who is really the boss.
Maybe it is a mere function of space and time.
Maybe it bestows sight onto the blind.

Maybe it is the thread of the reality we create.
Maybe it is the dread once bared at the gate.
Maybe it’s sum is greater than its parts.
Maybe it is the connection of light right before faith starts.

Maybe its mission is to free the mind.
Maybe it exists just to be kind.
For whatsoever it is or is not we shall not hide.
The sanctuary I hold for my enemy.

The ration of my blood will provide.
The stone that was rejected.
Shall hold back the tide.
Forging ahead carrying one another while.
Sharing from within the place where love abides . . .

Since Jesus used the metaphor of the wind to demonstrate where the Holy Spirit comes from I have always liked this poem/hymn:.

Breathe on me, Breath of God,
Fill me with life anew,
That I may love what Thou dost love,
And do what Thou wouldst do.

Breathe on me, Breath of God,
Until my heart is pure,
Until with Thee I will one will,
To do and to endure.

Breathe on me, Breath of God,
Till I am wholly Thine,
Until this earthly part of me
Glows with Thy fire divine.

Breathe on me, Breath of God,
So shall I never die,
But live with Thee the perfect life
Of Thine eternity.

Beautiful hymn Susannah.
Nostalgia for me too.
Love those sacred lyrics.
