A man owns a piece of property by I-65 just south of Nashville but inside the county, right by the richest part of town.
This property is worthless because it's small, narrow and next to the interstate but not near an exit.

So the owner commissioned a 25 foot statue of Nathan Bedford Forrest and put it up on the property.
Usually a billboard goes in these places...but we have a statue of one of the Confederate Generals...no Confederate flag though.

People whine and complain. But nothing can be done. His property, his free speech, and his statue. These things are protected by the Constitution.
Think about a similar situation but with a hilltop overlooking a town but instead of a statue a cross is lit up at night so the whole town can see the glowing cross.

Same thing. Protected speech on private property.

I can paint a star ,on private property and its not a hate crime.

Yet paint the symbols of things i can buy online ,fly on a pole its a hate crime,go,march ,call blacks all manner of names ,write a book etc.not a crime at all .so long as i don't act.

Strange ,very strange .yet a black male can attack me ,with the statements clearly not a hate crime ,strange

Our state ,govt is more likely to use the laws against harmless people,

Japanese detention and the reason, had naught to do with loyalty, the bias against our faith and ignoring legit concerns over Islam .the ignoring of anti Semitic acts

We punish murder lightly ,add x amount severity ,it seldom is enforced .

The punishment for a first time offender of 1st degree murder is life with a possibility of parole in 25 years, sometimes no parole. That's not a light sentence

A person who has committed violent acts, shouldn't be set free easily, and yet they do and go back to it

I don't see anyone being easily set freed in western prisons but the opposite. Please give examples if im wrong.

Many inmates will become repeat offenders which highlights the failure of a penitentiary

The term penitentiary comes from the word penitence. Its objective was to release prisoners who were penitent. That isn't the case. Maybe that's why their being renamed correctional facilities

It does exactly that brother. There is much anguish, pain and suffering for very little.

Its really easy to watch a criminal on the news and self righteously point the finger of judgement. Christians should be more forgiving of 1st time offenders?

I would give 1st degree murder 1 to 3 or 3 to 5 max for 1st offence with tight restrictions upon release. If an offender repeats then i'd use a heavy punishment.

They don't have to serve those full lengths .
Seen it.if a minor tried as an adult ,since when does a minor commit murder just one day ,not likely .they can't serve life.

So they should be fully restored rights ,and allowed to own a gun?

I believe in the death penalty ,the prison system is useless at rehab ,a rapist. Pedophile is unlikeky to change there.

State of Florida has one prison or other correctional Correctional Facilities none of them actually have anything in there that actually attempt to correct bad behavior this comes from two or more correct officers I know and I myself was trained in Corrections in the military

Oh the justice system now im fired up.

Is there justice? Sure, if u have money. Give your lawyer $15,000, he'll give the police prosecutors a few grand and they'll drop the case.

You might be innocent but if u have no money then there is no justice for u.
Only the cold hard concrete of a state correctional facility

That's not justice for the rich, that's evading justice.

I doubt many go into the job of being a judge to see how many they can harm. The same is probabley true for most people who become police officers. Most people think they are making the right choice. Even when they make the wrong ones they justify it so it doesn't feel so wrong. With that in mind, I don't know how many judges are out there to make their community pay, but I bet most try to stay just on most of their cases.

The sentence gives the maximum time. Then there is the possibility of parole which means they can be released if they have been good in jail. That gives the minimum time

So for 1st degree murder of a person without priors the prison sentence is for life.
They can apply for parole in 25 years and be released if they did everything right in prison.

I believe in the death penalty

So to the innocent defendants that cannot afford the legal costs? Death
Is that just the price for enforcing the law?

Im not sure you understood my example.

The lawyer gets $15,000 and gives $4,000 to the prosecution for them to drop the case all together. The judge isn't involved at all.

The person that cannot afford a lawyer has to try and represent themselves. Their inexperience is taken advantage of by the prosecution. They loose and end up in jail.

I guess because pedophiles are forced often to live in fear ,and also are often murdered by other lifers ,do away with prison and life .

I guess because 5 years for that cop who killed a man who poses no threat in his home ,she trespasses and thought he was the thief and shot him.

Cops are held to a higher standard ,but non violent black offenders got more time .

If you want to call living in,a 100 sq ft room with no visitation ,or rec time as its not a right .mercy ,nor is privacy ,nor is mail .be my guest .

I'm sure Epstein was innocent and yet where is he? The guards ,surely saw it and were bribed .

Look my sister is a rape victim ,sorry in florida the rape of a minor is a capital offense .

God ordained the death penalty ,he didn't say to Noah give them life .Do you really think that during those days.they based on witness always got it right ?

They didn't have forensics then and that 400 year period of silence .nor did all those towns travel to the temple, tabernacle to inquire .

You can't ignore that in prison based on,bad convictions a lifer will also be killed by inmates or an legit inmate who did it.

That's called bribery and I posted and legit murder case of a 10 year sentence ,do you really think that I could trespass ,kill and only, get 10 years ?

No a better lawyer argues and wins because he is good ,he diesnt bribe .while bribery can happen ,I don't buy that .

The fact she is a former police officer is a huge reason why. The article says "the average sentence for an on-duty officer convicted of murder is about 12 years" She got 10. Add also the fact she is female and her sentence is in line with industry practices really.

Im not saying it's right im just telling it how it is. Leaner sentences are given to cops and women. A woman here stabbed her husband 5 times in the back and killed him. She was acquitted.

For me these inconsistencies and favoritism only confirm the fact that the justice system is corrupt to it's core

They don't call it bribery they call it "negotiating with the prosecution" and it happens daily in every court house according to my sisters ex boyfriend who was a defence barrister.

I was sent to jail for breaking a law that isn't a criminal offence. A person i know broke the same law in a bigger fashion and didn't go to jail, he didn't even have his case heard. It cost him $15,000. I was once naive too but lawyers charge over $500 an hour cos, without regulations, they can. Money breeds corruption

Sure a good lawyer will do a better job. There are some cases that are just unwinnable.
My point however is that innocent people are going to jail because they couldn't afford a lawyer

Cops don't carefully choose who to prosecute, they prosecute anyone and everyone with no evidence.
