even today I get to see that post card look. this was taken about three years ago on a Saturday morning at noon. I read it today and when I was reading this that time, I was also entering into the yard.it has a pool that is behind that wall on the south photo. the carriage house. likely could have held both cars or horses in 1926. when this built. there are a few that I love in the area. one that will photo this sunday that is also old and not far from this one

I haven't seen one built in a while ,weird set up ,supposed to be energy efficient ,man that house here had a high power bill

Not sure why one would have a high power bill. They look space efficient and can take a beating. They look cute, too. The set up would be weird since it is a dome and not like a standard 4 wall home. It's something different =)

All the sunlight meaning it makes it too hot? That's an easy problem to take care of. Black out curtains help a lot. Try to build it so the rooms you use most during the day are faced away from the west. Shade screens, window tinting, and ceiling fans can help, too.

I guess if someone were building one, they would need to take extra care as to what climate they are building in. I am sure one could connect two dome homes together if they wanted for more bedrooms but yup, usually 2-3 bedrooms.

I like that they deal with wind better and if something were to fall on it, they are pretty strong. The different shape is fun looking, too.

It doesn't work ,you can't loose heat or cooling luke that .let me find 850 royal palm Blvd ,as its Windows are nearly a story tall and don't face the sun .

The home in question didn't do well in a tropical storm ,it was an experimental here and I remember the owner pushing others to buy these . he spoke to us kids about climate change .I,didn't see that house until years later . the home does face east and west and has less of an opening then your photo. Glass unless its really, thick ,missile proof ,will transfer heat and or cold.

His power usage while not the highest was 5kwh to 12kwh per month .double to triple mine. Also 78 versus to 06 constructions

When I say wind, I am thinking like 40mph on those windy days. We don't get tropical storms here, only the leftovers. =P I am thankful we don't deal with tropical storms or hurricanes.

It sure feels that the rooms that face west are a lot hotter since it is the hottest part of the day. A north/south facing home is more desirable here. That is my past experience in 120 degree days, though. Heat will still come through, that is inevitable - the black out curtains if they are thick will make the heat have to travel further to get in your home. The things people would do for 5 degrees cooler was everything =P. Thankfully where I am at now rarely hits 103.

Florida ,you can't have Windows of that size here and. Roofimg where wind can push on it .a hip roof is the best, with barrel tile on it .a boring look but it will likely take a hit.

A ts of 70 mph nearky did that home in.
