Im conflicted.
my favourite comedian is atheist Ricky Gervais.
And he does ridicule Christianity and religion.
But at the same time he challenges me to make my faith more authentic.
However he might be exascerbating my doubts too.
I find him more than just another rich celebrity. He is very human and very transparent. I go through phases when i think he is just a smart alec stand up. But I still feel drawn to his insightful commentary.
Do you think it wise to be a Christian and still follow atheist comedians?
i think your answer might be "no"

There is nothing wrong with having doubts or questions, so long as one is looking for answers.

Remember no matter how clever any atheists is in saying there is no God shows that they cannot think clearly.
If the material is all there is. What is logical thought?
Can they show a piece of logical reasoning? No, it is immaterial, so there thought process is faulty. They use immaterial reasoning to justify there belief in only a material universe.

Enjoy there humour, be challenged by there comments and asides, but learn to answer those comments. Pray for them, write to them and challenge them f you have the opertunity.

This should be your red flag. First he is an atheist, then he ridicules Christianity and religion. How can in what he makes fun of challenge you as you already have Christ in you if you are truly His own. If you have to question that then you need to evaluate your faith in Christ. These type of people need us praying for them and it could be you that writes him and plants a seed of faith.

i respect your view on this glory.
but he has some very redeeming qualities. like warmth and compassion.
I think I respect his intelligence too.

I was not speaking to his character, but to only that of him ridiculing Christianity and religion.

BTW, good intentions are all well and good, but we are not redeemed by our good works, but by the blood of the Lamb, 1 Peter 1:18-23.

oh i was hoping all my good works counted for something. that is disappointing to hear.

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

I had better stop doing good works here then. Its all wasted.
I had really built up my frequent flyer points to enter Heaven.

Do you really think it's by our good works that get us a place in heaven or is it by God's grace through Christ that we are saved by having faith in Him?

James 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. 18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: show me thy faith without thy works, and I will show thee my faith by my works.
