Watching and hearing much of the political gymnastics being performed following the death of RGB and the effort to fill the Supreme Court Justice seat within weeks of the election got me thinking...... Does the law define what is right and wrong?

Hypocrisy. Woe unto thee, hypocrites! Jesus seemed to have a problem with hypocrisy; but where is the commandment against hypocrisy? Can we agree that hypocrisy wrong?

Does hypocrisy stem from what can be technically argued, trying to justify ones actions before the law as being legal and just? Or does hypocrisy stem from the manner in which one applies those laws entrusted to them?

You must ask yourself...Is it right or wrong in whose eyes?

spending hasn't ceased under trump,do you,really think,1200 dollars a one time payment saved anyone from power cut off ,and evictions and water shut off?

I can say no,because all those who were hardly paying their utilities ,are owing much much more .sure it helped some but really most blew it or if they didn't ,it wasn't enough .rent here is more then 1200 a month for a two bed room unless its the projects or ramshackle .

I'm aware of what trump is trying but well face bankruptcy and see how we get played by the banks,my bank who I put into the bankruptcy already asked me,ink,isn't dry ,to refinance my house .they lost 20 grand on that chapter 13,if I was dumb enough ,and lost my,job no court could save me house ,in bankruptcy laws i can if its hard ,modify my loan .I choose not as I was able to.

try paying cash for a decent car and fixing it yourself or if not having it fixed,I,had a car gifted to me and to keep it running it took over a grand and I gave up and traded it in and Lost as the a.c. system would have added another grand .2 grand in a car with over 200000 miles .on,top of its history .

cost of living is where I'm going .can't dole out stimulus checks here and not cause that to go up.

i lean libertarian.republicans talk fiscal responsibility but once elected its spend city ,they borrow or Rob funds to spend versus the tax and spend and borrow of the left .

I have watched local republicans go left ever so slowly ,20 years ago fining for failing to recycle was unheard of,now they threaten you with that should you not do it right .500 dollars .

i get the epa pressure but well trump won!

next under the red,I took a pay cut ,I took a job switch or be jobless. God provided ,during furlough I somehow made even ,during the job switch I,made more but none of these were thibgs I asked for nor wanted .I felt God call me into the city fleet ,not meter reading .I enjoy fixing things ,I made myself accept meter reading and used it to learn of local history .

this isn't so black and clear and white ,we are not statistics.your taxes may be reduced but in order to do that another night face joblessness and or bankruptcy .or if they the right wins .they love to build the military and well spend on,it .somehow ,we love wars,so there's that too.

Very well said. Can we say the same thing of today? Is there such a zealousness to try and enforce God's law by challenging the constitutionality to abortion or gay marriage laws, that they have lost the ability to discern God's heart in the matter? Has this zealousness led them to accepting and even justifying the blatant hypocrisy of their leaders? Have they themselves become as James said?

First, I’m not real happy with the way this thread is going. It’s hard enough to keep unity on this board at times and talking politics only adds to that task because some people have a stronger zeal and passion for politics than they do for our Lord.
If Politics start taking over this board creating division, I personally will shut them down. I don’t want this site bashing Republicans or Democrats. I own this site, and I have the right to impose said restriction if I choose, and have previously chosen.

That being said, I do have my views on abortion and same sex marriage.
In the overwhelming majority of cases, abortion is murder. There are exceptions and those exceptions should be made by the mother and father of the unborn child. Not all abortions are murder. Not all abortions are sinful.
I disagree with same sex marriage. I think conservatives shot themselves in the foot denying the basic constitutional rights for civil unions between same sex couples. Had conservatives not fought to stop civil unions, we wouldn’t have same sex marriages. A civil union would have granted the same legal rights as a same sex marriage.

So then we should not support or trust those senators who refused to hold hearings for months on a SC Justice 4 years ago because it was an election year, but now want to hold hearings on another one mere weeks before the election? Are not these actions of blatant hypocrisy? As a Christian, wouldn't it be better to be seen as not supporting such hypocrisy? Or is trying to stack the courts more important than the blatant hypocrisy?

in the midterms one group concentrated on winning the house so they could impeach potus - they got what they wanted

the other group concentrated on winning the senate so they could fill the vacancies for judges at every level - they got what they wanted

if either group is unhappy with how they conducted themselves in the midterms and the state they now find themselves in they can change what they do in the future -

It’s amazing how our thinking can blind us from our own hypocrisy at times. When we start to justify ourselves, that’s generally a good time to re-evaluate ourselves and make sure we’re not being hypocrites.
A big side of me believes our culture has lost its ability to discern truth. Our schools teach deductive reasoning and logical models to develop extremely smart students, but in the process I fear we’re loosing mutual respect for one another, common sense and the fundamental principals of unity.

I am not in threat of losing my house as I paid on it since the entire start of the bankruptcy in bankruptcy you all in all 50 states you can modify to load and you basically lower the rate when the bacon keep it to whatever you set it as or whatever they agreed to I did not do that as far as utilities the unemployment a lot of people that aren't employed here still can't pay the there bells each state sets the rates and two-thirds of $9 an hour in enough FNL is decided to start cutting people off and some people owe back payments for almost a year

the problem with cancellong evictions is that the banks will falter for loss of income from mortgage payments .another problem is that a bank can repo from the landlord and well ,yeah ,they aren't inn the business of that .its ugly .I disagree with that ruling as it doesn't work ,in the long term it will happen to draw out the problem
