its your question you answer it ..i cant say all is man made .there is lots that are Bible based . in some case were dealing with interpretation. example the pentecostals taxh emphasis on the baptism of the spirit , the evidence of speaking in tongues . the baptist some teach osas other teach you can walk away from salvation. the three mentioned there is scripture to back each one up. the big problem is the division it creates.. there is NO way a gen baptist or a pentecostal preacher will ever stand in a independent fundamentalist baptist Church. . its terms of infant baptism temporary salvation ,etc that is not BiblePlease explain why man made is somehow evil?
yrs i am aware of what the sola scripture amounts to and whyAlso remember why the solars where expressed. It was to counter the worse man made traditions and false teachings found in the RCC.

All doctrine and theology is man made, as are the songs sung in church, the prayers said etc etc.

Please explain why man made is somehow evil?
No it is your claim in your opening post.
If you cannot explain what and why you write things there is no point in posting.

The man started a thread about scripture only.
He believes like many of us that our doctrine should be founded in scripture. Can we please discuss this?
I think it's an honorable subject to discuss.
Are you against using scripture?
Please let's have a good discussion.

Theology as found in theological text books etc is not copied straight from scripture.
Theology is man's attempt to rationalize the information found in scripture through the filter of beliefs biases.
Hmmm, in the last four years I haven't read any, prior to that I was going through my baby berkof to check some of my understanding.Which theological texts have you read in the last 2 years?
Can you be more specific?
Also, what do you mean by Protestants?

JLB,
This is an excellent topic.
I suggest that we need to understand what sola scriptura meant at the time of the Reformation when it was introduced. It referred to:
1. Scripture being the supreme authority in the church. For the Reformers, it did not mean Scripture was the only authority. Reformers such as Luther, Calvin and others used the authority of reason as they explored the meaning of Scripture.
2. The sufficiency of Scripture was another dimension of sola scriptura. At the time of the Reformation, the RCC supplemented Scripture with rituals and unbiblical beliefs. So this teaching of sola scriptura was a call back to the sufficiency of Scripture.
3. Sola scriptura, for the Reformers, referred to the clarity of Scripture because all of Scripture is not crystal clear to all believers. It was a call to have pastor-teachers to help the laity understand Scripture (cf. Eph 4:11-12) to the way to salvation. The Reformers agreed certain parts of Scripture were difficult to understand.
