I just thought i'd bring this up again, considering that the last thread quickly declared it as cultish and evil without state why exactly. Also would like to discuss it, considering I read and love the first book, and in the process of reading the second.

So what do people think of these books? have you read any of them? Oh and before condemn them outright, I suggest explaining why it should, in an intelligent and peaceful manner.

I have read it also (actually many times). It provides a perspective on many things that I've never thought of before on many subjects.

I think that mainstream Christianity considers it "bad" because the content differs from what is typically taught in Christian churches.

I have read all of the CWG books. In many ways, what is written is very powerful and beautiful... and I feel a very peaceful spirit as I read; however, there are also times when I don't understand or agree.

What I've come to accept is that no-one has the "marketshare" on God, for even the Bible says some things that seem kinda "nuts" if you stop and think about it.

What I have made a conscious effort to do is to listen to my feelings about things, because it's very easy to get all wrapped-up in doctrinal things, or finding evil in virtually anything (e.g. Teletubbies, Harry Potter, etc.).

If CWG is from the devil, then... well, what can I say? But I truly believe that there are many good things to take from the book.

Additionally, I take CWG like a smorgasbord... I take the things I like, and reject the rest... I know, I know... it's not supposed to be like that with spiritual things, as we all prefer to see things "black or white", but as I get older, I find that things are not always as cut-and-dried as we'd like them to be; there's a lot of grey area in between.

Amen.

It is okay. unlike the Bible, CWG doesn't say that it is requirement to believe everything it says for whatever reason. God gave us free will, and he doesn't really care what you believe, just that we exercise the gift given to us during creation.

Mellian, are you serious? God doesn't care what we believe? :o

Why would God do so, especially when God gave us free will. Don't give free will and expect to believe in only certaint thing and beliefs.

-Mellian

Don't give free will and expect to believe in only certain things and beliefs.

That's a very good point. "Free will" allows us to make choices... and we can only "choose something" if there are things to choose from.

For example, if the ONLY kind of pie available was Apple... then there would be nothing else to choose. However, if you have apple, berry, peach, etc., then you can use your free will to choose.

I don't mean to make this sound silly, or oversimplistic, but I believe that the same basic concept applies to our relationship with God. God allows us to choose... and to experience whatever consequences, whether good or bad, that follow from that choice.

Hopefully, as we mature, we will make better choices (implying that there is always a selection to choose from).

Adam and Eve had the choice also. And look at what that choice has done.
You have a choice to eat an apple or acid. God tells you to eat the apple. You will eat the acid just to prove that you have freewill...

I read CWG and I SWEAR BY IT!!

I love it I love it I love it! KEEP READING IT!! Book 3 is the best!

Neale Donald Walsch also came out with a bunch of other books including:

Friendship with God
Communion with God
Conversations with God for Teens
Q's & A's on CWG
The Little Soul and the Sun: A Children's Parable Adapted from CWG
Meditations from CWG
CWG: Guidebook
Moments of Grace
Bringers of the Light
Recreating Yourself
Neale Donald Walsch on Abundance and Right Livelihood
Neale Donald Walsch on Holistic Living
Neale Donald Walsch on Relationships
The Wedding Vows from CWG
Honest To God: A Change of Heart That Can Change the World
Meditations from CWG, book2: A Personal Journal
CWG: Re-Minder Cards
The New Revelations

but anyway (haha i dont know why i wrote all that)

It's funny because I was about to put a new topic up talking about CWG but I already saw it done by somebody else!

It was very refreshing for me to read CWG when I first read it. It presented to me a brand new perspective. It really changed my life, actually. I dont think its a work of the devil, but quite the opposite, actually.

You know?

Some call it "God's" latest say on things. It's a comforting feeling to beleive in a God that would never punish anybody, but lets not use that as an excuse to start running around killing each other! I dont think mankind is a bunch of babys anymore. We are capable of coexisting peacefully without a set of rules telling us what God wants and what you are supposed to do. I'll tell you THIS much. I enjoyed reading CWG 100000000000000000000000000000000000000 times more than reading the Bible

I especially like the parts in Book 3 where he talks about what its like after you die. Its a real eyeopener.

So what do you plan on doing after you die?

2 Corinthians 11:13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers,
transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.

2 Corinthians 11:14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into
an angel of light.

2 Corinthians 11:15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be
transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be
according to their works.

What are your children reading?
The word of God or the word of a deceiver?

WARNING TO FAMILIES
ABOUT BOOKS AUTHORED BY NEALE DONALD WALSCH

Please pay special attention not only to the what your kids watch on TV
and in movie theaters and the music they listen to but we must also be
alert regarding the books they read....

Two particular books, Conversations with God and Conversations with
God for Teens, written by Neale D. Walsh sound harmless enough by their
titles alone.
These books have been on the New York Times best seller list for a
number of weeks.
These publications makes truth of the statement "Don't judge a book by
its cover/title".
The author purports to answer various questions from kids using
the "voice of God". However, the "answers" that he gives are not
biblically-based and go against the very infallible Word of God
.

He uses the voice of the devil rather than the voice of God to lead these
young people astray.
For instance (and I paraphrase), when a girl asks the question "Why am I
a lesbian?" His answer is that she was born that way because of genetics
(just as you were born right-handed, with blue eyes, etc.). Then he tells
her to go out and "celebrate" her differences.

Comments of this web author- The Bible plainly teaches us that
homosexuality is wrong. God did not make us with minds that are warped
and confused as to what we are. He is NOT A GOD OF CONFUSION.
Homosexuality is wrong and strictly against the teachings of God.

Romans 1:24 Wherefore God also gave them up
to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their
own bodies between themselves:

Romans 1:26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for
even their women did change the natural use into that which is against
nature:

Romans 1:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the
woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working
that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of
their error which was meet.

Another girl poses the question "I am living with my boyfriend. My parents
say that I should marry him because I am living in sin. Should I marry
him?"

His reply is "Who are you sinning against? Not me because you have done
nothing wrong. Another question asks about God's forgiveness of sin. His
reply - I do not forgive anyone because there is nothing to forgive. There
is no such thing as right or wrong and that is what I have been trying to
tell everyone. I do not judge people. People have chosen to judge one
another and this is wrong because the rule is "Judge not lest ye be
judged".

Comments of this web author-The Bible teaches us that adultery is wrong
in any form and God DOES judge us for our sins. There are more verses
than the ones below that tell us this but these should suffice.

Exodus 20:14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.

Deuteronomy 5:18 Neither shalt thou commit adultery.

Proverbs 6:32 But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh
understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul.

Jeremiah 23:14 I have seen also in the prophets of Jerusalem an horrible
thing: they commit adultery, and walk in lies: they strengthen also the
hands of evildoers, that none doth return from his wickedness; they are
of them unto me as Sodom, and the inhabitants thereof as Gomorrah.-

*THIS IS WHAT MR. WALSH IS DOING-WALKING IN LIES AND
LEADING OTHERS TO DO THE SAME
*

Hosea 4:2 By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and
committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood.

Matthew 5:27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou
shalt not commit adultery:

Matthew 5:28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to
lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

Matthew 19:18 He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no
murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,

Mark 10:19 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery,
Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour
thy father and mother.

Luke 18:20 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery,
Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and
thy mother.

That should take care of his contention that adultery is not a sin but there
is more that he writes. The list goes on.

There is another book that he has authored entitled "FRIENDSHIP WITH
GOD" that is just as bad. In it, he states that God told him it is O.K. if his
wife goes off with another man and he should not be a jealous
person!!!!!!!!!!!

I ordered the book to see what it was about and I was NOT pleased. One
of my readers was using one of his books to help booster his/her spiritual
life but I had to send a warning to that person that it was not the way to
do that. And I felt that the person who was using it was a young person
and a young Christian who was already being led astray by this tool of the
devil. Not only are these books the false doctrine of devils but in some
instances even quote (in error) the Word of God.

These books (and others like it) are being sold to school children (The
Scholastic Book Club) and we need to be aware of what is being fed to
our children. Our children are under attack so I pray that you be sober
and vigilant about teaching your kids the Word of God and guarding their
exposure to worldly mediums
because our adversary, the devil, roams
about as a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8).

And how many of us know that lions usually hunt for the slowest, weakest
and YOUNGEST of its prey.

Re:CWG

I think the Conversations with god books are wonderful and are not deceptive in anyway. They may challenge what we were raised to believe in but that is all a part of evolution. If God wanted everyone to be Christian then Christianity would be the only world religion.I choose to believe in a god that allows us to find what really works for instead of a god that wills up to be spiritually enslaved and not allow us to choose our own path.Unconditional love demands nothing.

If you want to talk to God pray, if you can't hear Him read the Bible. If that still doesn't work seek to remove sin form your life...if that still doesn't work...question your salvation.
