Fish stew is good. You can use whatever kind of fish you like. Catfish is preferred but you can use whatever you like. I use Tilapia a lot and it works just fine. I like it to be tomato based. It goes a long way.
Get a big can of crushed tomato's and throw em in a big pot. Or a big can of tomato juice. Add some tomato sauce. Add some tomato paste. Add a can of Rotel chopped tomato's and pepers. Add a can or two, however much you want to make, of Campbell's tomato soup. If you need to add water, don't. Add instead some kind of broth. Doesn't matter. Chicken or beef or fish. Just don't add water. Add some ketchup for flavor.
Cut up fresh celery, carrots, onions, bellpeppers, and two jalapenos. Cut up the jalapenos whole, don't do way with any of it except the stem. Cut up a little garlic if you like. If you don't have all of these...it don't matter. Just use what you have. I do put some onions in to cook while the whole thing is cooking on the stove, but hold back some towards the end so they don't just cook away.
The carrots need to cook the longest so bring it to a boil and then back off till it slowly cooks for awhile, maybe 20 minutes.
I take the fish and boil it separately in another pot for a few minutes. Doesn't take long. Then drain off all the water several times. Use as much fish as you would like. After draining it I chop it up in small pieces and then add it to the stew with the onions I held back with.
Add whatever else you like. Serve with some Ritz crackers or your favorite chips.
I don't do a whole lot of fish as it's hard to get good quality here, but you usually can't go wrong with lemon juice and butter or lemon pepper and butter

Some examples include any or all of Mayonnaise/Miracle Whip, sour cream, chopped pickles (any favorite), chopped jalapenos or your favorite peppers, chopped onion, favorite shredded cheese, mustard, salsa, favorite hot sauce, salt, pepper, or your other favorite spices. Mix together and it makes a great sandwich spread or chip dip.

Thank you for the recipe. This sounds just perfect. Nothing like a good warm stu, now that we are getting a bit colder weather up here.

This is something we did with walleye. We called it Catalina Walleye. We placed a layer of sliced onion on the bottom of a cake pan then added a layer of seasoned walleye fillets (salt, pepper, lemon pepper, seasoned salt, whatever you prefer) then a layer of onion slices and another layer of walleye fillets then onion and topped it off with Catalina salad dressing and baked it until the fish were flaky. Turned out pretty tasty.
I did something like this one year at our annual walleye fishing trip (10 guys) and it was a hit. Ever since, they make sure to fry up enough for leftovers so I can make a dip.
I usually make a mix of flour, garlic, salt, pepper, cyan pepper powder, and then lightly lay the fish on that - lightly coating it. Then I pan fry it in olive oil. That also works well with shrimp.
