It was the early morning after the third day, on the first day of the week (Sunday) after the resurrection of Jesus. Two of Christ disciples were walking on their way to a village called Emmaus. They were discussing the events of the crucifixion of Jesus and wondering what it all meant. They were perplexed that the one they thought was the Son of David had been crucified, while they thought He was to establish the Kingdom of Israel according to the Prophets.
As they were discussing and reasoning these things together on their way to Emmaus, Jesus drew near and walked with them. (
but their eyes were blinded so they would not recognize Jesus) And He said to them, what are these things you are so sad over and talking about? And so Peter says to Jesus, Who was still not revealed (Jesus) to the two men walking to Emmaus, "saying", you must be a stranger here in Jerusalem, "they said", because you were not aware of the event that have happened in the last three days. So Jesus questions them of what had happened that had caused them so much sadness the last three days, saying, "what things"? And they said, "concerning Jesus of Nazareth who was a prophet, mighty in deed and word before God and all Israel , but the chief priest and rulers of our people had Him condemned to death by the Roman law of crucifixion. But we thought He was our hope to redeem Israel, and that was three days ago. But now, some of the women that followed after Jesus with us have surprised us with the report that the sepulcher early this morning was empty, where His body had been laid to rest, while a vision of angles appeared and said He was alive.(Luke 24:1-12) Then Jesus says to them, "O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe, all that the prophets have spoken! Ought not the Christ to have suffered these things and to enter into His Glory?

And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, Jesus expounds to them, in all the Scripture, the things concerning Himself. (Isa. 7:14; 40:10; 53:2-12;) (Jer. 23:5 33:14) (Ezek. 34:23; 37:25) (Dan. 9:24-26) (Mal. 3:1; 4:2;) (John 1:45).
And when they finally reached the village (Jesus acted as if he would continue on (Luke 24:28)), But they take a hold of Him (constrain Him) saying, "abide with us as it is evening now", So He enters in to stay awhile (tarry) with them (29). As they sat to eat a meal, Jesus blessed the bread and then broke it in pieces and gave it to them (30). Immediately their eyes were opened (remember, up until then, Luke 24:15-16 it says theirs eyes were "holden" (restricted) so they could not physically identify Jesus. Who do you think did that to them and why? There was a purpose. Our life in Jesus is not visual or by sight (as many statues and paintings suggest. If I have to go to a cross or statue or painting of Jesus to pray, then I do not have a personal relationship with God the Father. For we do not look at Christ after the flesh, though we did once.(2 Cor. 5:15-17) So the Father blinded the disciples of Jesus's physical identification and presented Him as to His Spiritual identity. That is how the Father draws us to Christ, not by sight, but by the word of God (every word). Now watch what happens: They heard the word.(v.27) Jesus ACTED or (made as though He would have gone further) (v.28) He was waiting for the the disciples to do something? And they did, They constrained Him and ask Him to supp with them (they invited Him in) (v.29) And when they broke bread together (there EYES WERE OPENED) (v.30) It was the same Father that restricted their sight that opened their eyes,by the burning inside of them,as the word of Gd was spoken.(vs. 31-32) And so it is with us, it is how we respond to the word of God that the Father opens our eyes to the soul and heart. Drawing us to Christ. Read on,study it and it shall give you peace.
