Hi! I am new to the forum. I am currently researching the Preterist view. I find it rather convincing overall. I do have a few reservations though. What are your thoughts on Rev 7:9?

My thoughts are if the great tribulation happened in 70 AD would that be enough time for a great number of believers to accrue from every tribe, tongue, and nation that is innumerable. I would love to hear your thoughts and if you know of any preterist theologian who addresses this specifically that I can check out.

Thank you!

Hello Martin3535.
The 12 Tribes are seen complete and protected from the 4 horsemen (Rev.7:1-8), but the horsemen cause tribulation on earth, so those Jews are still on earth.

The Jewish people shared the good news of Jesus through much persecution with gentiles who became part of Gods' family (Rev.7:9.)

It's showing how Gods' people are seen in His presence,

But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, Heb.12:22

Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Lk.10:19 KJV

For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes. Rev.7:17 KJV

whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Jn.4:14 NIV

Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'" Mt.4:4 NIV

I see the scriptures repeating the gospel throughout every generation from the beginning of creation to the end. Not sure if that makes me "preterist."

The Great Tribulation in 70 AD?
We have been in the End of Days (Last days) since Christ' burial and Ressurection.

I do not want discourage you in your Biblical studies and your heart for searching out God's Word. However, I will encourage you to continue searching deeply in God's Word and pray for a understanding spirit. The Great Tribulation has characteristics that only the Book of Daniel and Revelation mention.

Daniel gives us a set amount of years laid out into weeks, 69 weeks and the Messiah will be cut off (crucified). During the final week, the 70th week, this is the seven year Tribulation period. In the Book of Revelation, we read, it has confirmed what Daniel was saying but adds emphasis on the details and breaks it down, even to 3.5 years. As if that wasnt clear enough for some people, John broke it down into days as well. There will 1260 days or 3.5 years for certain things to happen. We can not get seven years (1 Week) from the last 2,000 years of history, thats impossible and completely taken out of text. The Tribulation period is for the house of Israel and the nonbelievers. The Tribulation period will open the eyes of Israel back to the Messiah whom they rejected and to an unbelieving world.

This subject can be really confusing for a lot of people. Many have believed incorrectly and argued endlessly to no avail. about this for eons, it is confusing, because Daniel also predicts the actions of Antiochus and Epiphanes. And that has caused a lot of conflict when dealing with End Times and different Church interpretations.

We may not all agree about the End Times. Thank God our salvation does not depended on interpretation, but by the Blood of Jesus Christ over our lives.

God Bless
Atonement
