Some people would not be so joyful to learn that their church would be hosting a concert for any group. What are your thoguhts?

Do you mean secular bands could be included too?

I think any church should do a little research on what type of message these bands are sending out.
If the Lord isn't being glorified through their music, then they shouldn't be invited.

I guess the main issue is what kind of music are these band playing

I guess OP echoes Donnie Swaggart @ http://www.jsm.org

He railed against Christian films - a thinly veiled attack on Tommy Tenney movie One Night With The King..

.. by twisting "Faith comes by hearing & hearing by the Word of God...how shall they hear without a preacher?"

Dudes, Psalms 1-150 preach the Word in song

Why?

Same reason as many of Jesus' sayings are in rhyme in the original language - see our new Online Bible study aids.. :tongue

Same reason as God often told Ezekiel to act out his message to a 'stubborn, obstinate stiff-necked people'...

It breaks thru people's prejudices...

& it's easier to remember!

Donnie, if U R out there, your dad is still the most superb soul singer & piano player & it's great to see how much you take after his passion

& I'm confident God will mature you before you work yourself up into a heart attack

& I don't say ANY of that to score points..

or to do put-downs..

but with a servant heart..

to help others with a servant heart

@ my age, I'm constantly aware of the need to be a FROG - Fully Rely On God - as my dear old dad died of his 1-&-only heart attack

See today's Billy Graham: My Answer

@ http://www.arcamax.com/billygraham - (it's still showin Fri, but I had Sat in my email!)

"He who believes in Me, even though he die, yet shall he live..

& he who lives & believes in Me shall never die"

As I said to mum, the night dad died so suddenly & unexpectedly - (not in a rage, by the way - he & mum were sat on the sofa & he just kinda slowly leaned on her, more & more - wonderfully peaceful passing 'absent from the body..present with the Lord')..

Anyway, mum & I played Jamie Owens' classic '70s album, "Growing Pains"

God had already given me a vision of dad, as soon as I turned the key in the door after she & the lad next door had come to get me from playing guitar for a church plant by http://www.wccuk.org

Dad was singing God's praises in tune - (he'd been stone deaf!) - & lifting a hand that was compl;ete & perfect - (he'd lost 2 middle fingers trying to repair a motor bike chain in his youth!)

Anyway, as that beautiful prophetic praise album played, God gave me the most wonderful revelation

I turned to mum & said, "You know what God just showed me?

"Dad is more alive now than he ever was on Earth

"He's just come out of his shell - into that 'glorious Resurrection body' of 1 Corinthians 15:51-58

1 Corinthians 15:51-58 (New International Version)

51Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changedâ€â€

52in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.

53For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. 54When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: "Death has been swallowed up in victory."[a]

55"Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?"

56The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.

57But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

58Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
