Biden cancels $7.4 billion in student debt for 277000 borrowers

As working middle class taxpayers watch Biden strip them even further of what money they have left after struggling with his rising inflation for his personal political benefit, while he also desperately seeks to strip his # 1 presidential opponent of his money, again also for his own personal political benefit do you think independent middle class voters then become more inclined to vote for someone who is consistently robbing groups & individuals of their hard earned money , or do they come to favor a candidate who is being victimized for personal political gain , the same way they are ?

On the one hand, it’s very bad economic policy. On the other, post-secondary education is being run like a business and that is where the main problem lies.

As a political strategy do you think it pays off ?
It likely will for the unthinking masses who are having their loans paid off, or are hoping that at some point theirs will be, and those who support “equity.” But, it could backfire depending on how many realize that it’s bad policy and means that they are the ones paying instead of the individuals who received the education.

Funny how when Paycheck Protection Program loans went to the super wealthy under Don the Con and were then forgiven, none of y'all said a word.

But when the poor and middle class get loans forgiven, it's an outrage!

So weird to watch regular folks be so in favor of throwing more and more money to billionaires and mega corporations, but as soon as the poor 20-something down the street gets a dime, it's pitchforks and torches time.

This is being "Forgiven" ?
And for the record I hope they catch up with hundreds of these super wealthy liberal democrat crooks

PRESS RELEASE

CEO Of Paycheck Protection Program Lender MBE Capital Pleads Guilty In Connection With Fraudulent Loan And Lender Applications

Thursday, March 23, 2023

For Immediate Release
U.S. Attorney's Office, Southern District of New York
Damian Williams, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, announced today that RAFAEL MARTINEZ, the CEO of MBE Capital Partners, LLC, pled guilty to conspiring to commit wire fraud in connection with loan and lender applications submitted through the Paycheck Protection Program (the “PPP”) administered by the U.S. Small Business Administration (the “SBA”). MARTINEZ pled guilty before United States District Judge Lewis J. Liman, to whom his case is assigned.
U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said: “In the depths of the COVID-19 pandemic, Martinez lied to get money that was supposed to help people. His abuse of the system during a terrible time has now been brought to light. Martinez took advantage of his employees, a tax preparer, and the public at large — all to fund a lavish lifestyle of cars, jets, and fancy homes. Let me be clear, this Office will not tolerate such conduct and will continue to bring to justice those who put their greed above the law.”
As a result of the above fraudulent misrepresentations, MARTINEZ, through his company MBE, became an approved PPP lender and issued approximately $823 million in PPP loans to approximately 36,600 businesses. These loans earned MARTINEZ a total of approximately $71.3 million in fees. MARTINEZ spent the proceeds from his criminal conduct on, among other things, the purchase of a villa in the Dominican Republic for over $10 million, a $3.5 million mansion located in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey, a chartered jet service, and several luxury vehicles, including a 2018 Porsche 911 Turbo, a 2017 Ferrari 488 Spider, a 2017 Bentley Continental GT, a BMW 750, and a 1962 Mercedes Benz 190.

MARTINEZ, 57, of Franklin Lakes, New Jersey, pled guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, which carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison.
The maximum potential sentence is prescribed by Congress and is provided here for informational purposes only, as any sentencing of the defendant will be determined by the judge.
As part of his plea agreement, MARTINEZ agreed to pay restitution in the amount of $71,711,893.07 and to forfeit $44,546,712.94, including more than $15 million previously seized by law enforcement, properties in New Jersey and the Dominican Republic, and five luxury vehicles.

I have never heard of that.
Which raises a good question....why would folks hear about middle and lower class people having loans forgiven, but never hear about the super rich and mega corporations getting their loans forgiven?

That is a good question. What I hear is generally from these forums.

I'm against both .

Piper locally a foreign owned company asked for money and tax cuts and didn't pay utilities for a few years in order to be sold.

The argument was to save jobs

No you dullard, I'm talking about hypocrisy like this...

MTG was just fine with her gov't loan being forgiven, but as soon as poor people have their loans forgiven it's "unfair".
Where is the news story on this ?
Did she keep this money for her personal use ?
Details please ?
I had no idea she was a business owner ,
As much as she is hated I find it curious this news was not sounded from the rooftops until this day .
I also find it curious you have yet to post an official news story burning her alive at the stake for it complete with details .
Where , and to whom did this money go ?
Details please.
If she was got personal gain out of it I put her in the same boat as the rest.

What does it matter what she used the PPP loan for? How does that affect her blatant hypocrisy?

Paycheck Protection Small Business Forgiveness Act
This bill modifies loan forgiveness under the Paycheck Protection Program established to support small businesses in response to COVID-19 (i.e., coronavirus disease 2019).
Specifically, the bill provides for automatic forgiveness of a paycheck protection loan that is not more than $150,000 if the recipient submits a one-page form. Further, it prohibits any enforcement or other action against a lender relating to loan origination, forgiveness, or guarantee based on the lender's reliance on certifications or documentation submitted by a loan applicant or recipient.

If this were all republicans as you claim it would have been major news , but with the democrats taking just as much advantage, it explains to me why I never heard of it .

Here's the rest of them Republican & DEMOCRAT.

The whole Pandemic is the biggest screw lob the American Taxpayer ever took in the shorts.
And my bottom line is this, I didn't trust any of them before the pandemic & trust them even less after it.
Most of all none them have nothing to do with my opinion .

My opinion or my disgust at working taxpaying Americans forced to payoff billions in loans in a blatant attempt by Biden to cobb together votes for himself and his floundering campaign,

Here’s what you need to know.

Stimulus: PPP Loans

According to the Associated Press, new data shows that several businesses tied to members of Congress or their family members received federal aid from the $659 billion Paycheck Protection Program (PPP). Congress created the program in April to help small businesses pay employees in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Who are the members of Congress?

According to the AP, businesses connected to the following members of Congress—including both Democrats and Republicans—or their families reportedly received PPP loans:

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA)

Paul Pelosi, husband of Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, owns a passive 8.1% stake in a company, EDI Associates, that owns the El Dorado Hotel in Sonoma, California. EDI Associates received a PPP loan between $350,000 and $1 million. Mr. Pelosi (or Speaker Pelosi) was not involved in or aware of the PPP loan, a spokesman for Speaker Pelosi told the AP.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY)

Foremost Maritime Co. is a company run by the sister of U.S. Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao, who is married to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. Foremost Maritime received a PPP loan between $350,000 and $1 million. However, McConnell said that neither he nor his wife are involved in Foremost Maritime and were not aware of the PPP loan.

Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH)

William Shaheen, the husband of Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, owns or partially owns several businesses that received PPP loans, including the Shaheen & Gordon law firm (between $1 million and $2 million), a title company ($160,000) and several other companies owned by Mr. Shaheen or relatives (less than $150,000). Sen. Shaheen said she was not involved in applying for any of these PPP loans and is not connected to any of the businesses.

Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA)

Rep. Devin Nunes is a limited partner in two wineries that received separate PPP loans between $1 million and $2 million. A dairy farm in Iowa connected to relatives of Nunes received between $150,000 and $350,000.

Rep. Susie Lee (D-NV)

Dan Lee, husband of Rep. Susie Lee, is the CEO of Full House Resorts, a Las Vegas casino company, which received two PPP loans totaling $5.6 million. Rep. Lee said she is not involved in Full House Resorts and was not involved in applying for these PPP loans.

Rep. Vern Buchanan (R-FL)

Car dealerships owned by Rep. Vern Buchanan received three PPP loans between $2.7 and $7.0 million.

The ones most likely to pa6 for it will be the ones getting the forgiveness. The structured tax bracket suggests that people with higher education will be in those brackets. The money is already spent.

Personally we need an expansion on state and community College funding and acredidation.
