hi.. im joshua .. and i live in south India. my family are into christ and very spiritual. im doing my mechanical engineering and im 20 yrs old.. my prob is... :verysad :verysad m so ashamed to tell.. anyways.. for last 4 to 5 years i used to see loads and loads of pornography ... used to buy dvd's in local shops.. used to download loads of such videos.. whenever i think of leaving this... my heart gets tempted and i watch. i really couldnt able to control it.. but other than this i dont smoke or drink alcohol.. i knew its a sin. and it affected my spiritual life too.. whenever i used to sit for prayers (which i do rarely) , these thoughts come into my mind.. but i know about the Lord , his mission and everythin.. but some how i couldnt take this away from my heart... i dont know how to stop thinking about it. yest i saw a message about temptations.. the bro told tat - even Jesus went thro the temptations of the satan.. And in my heart i thought tat this addiction should not be the reason , of taking me away from the Lord ... den yest night i deleted all the videos i stored in my hard disk.. everything that i collected all these years. then googl'd and found this forum wher i can get assistance . frnds.. plssssss pray for me.. that this time i shouldnt get any of such thoughts... and for my spiritual life.. I REALLY WANT TO SERVE MY FATHER !! BUT IM SO SCARED THAT I MAY GET DISTRACTED BY THESE TEMPTATIONS.. HELP ME OUT FRNDS.... :help

Dear Josh~

I want you to know I am praying for our Lord to give you strength to overcome this sin. Please be sure to let God's people and godly entertainment fill up the gap in your time on the internet now that you have taken this step of faith.

ANY sin that has taken hold of us, must not only be rejected, but also REPLACED with good things. Or we may be very lonley and empty and can return to it.

The Bible says: Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

I am asking for you to become very close to Christian men in a good bible-teaching church. I am also asking Jesus to be the personal courage and power you need inside to remain set apart from this harmful sin. He alone can do this~ because even though He WAS tempted as we are... He NEVER sinned.

I thank God for this work He has begin in you~ and commit you and your walk into His hands completely. For He says He is faithful to keep everything I commit to Him.

One more thing brother~ think about this verse from Isaiah 49:16

See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; Your walls are continually before Me.

But let Gopd speak to your heart and I pray you will be granted great courage from the truth of these words.

Heaven and earth can be astonished that rebels (like you and me) should gain so great a nearness to the heart of God's unending love as to be written on the palms of His hands. :crazy

"I have inscribed or engraved you."It does not say, "your name." Our names are there~ but that is not all:

"I have engraved YOU." See the fulness of this! I have engraven your person, your image, your circumstances, your temptations, your weaknesses, your wants, your needs, your works...

God Almighty says; I have engraved you, everything about you, all that concerns you; I have placed you altogether there. Will you ever say again that your God has given up on you~ when He has inscribed you on His own palms?

NEVER, no never again! For He has loved you with an everlasting love! :heart And now He draws you with His loving kindness...

Hey Joshua,

Im glad you had the guts to come out and ask for prayer and help. I have seen how porn destroys marriages and families. My old friend from the gym had hundreds of movies which he bragged about, and i saw how it turned him into a monster. It destroyed his marriage and he passed on the expensive addiction to his son.

We all are tempted with lust etc. I believe what we hear and watch affect our behavior. I think it starts with our music, friends, movies and programming selection. I know because I use to watch a lot of rated R movies and listen to music with explicit lyrics. My sister told me not to do so because it would have a bad effect on me i didnt listen. But I realized later on that after watching a R rated movie with some nudity - the next day i was complaining a lot about being single and upset at God. It starts by giving in a bit then the devil comes and does the rest, we need to be strong, go to church and read the bible. It's a constant battle but you need to practice discipline and use your time wisely. Go to the gym and workout thats how I try to fight temptation by using my energy for something positive.
