Climate activist gets 60 days in prison for causing $4,000 in damage to 19th Century sculpture

"Joanna Smith, 54, of Brooklyn, New York, was sentenced Friday, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Washington for defacing “Little Dancer Aged Fourteen,” a wax sculpture created by Edgar Degas that was completed in 1881.

In addition to her prison time, the judge ordered Smith to serve two years of supervised release, 150 hours of community service, and she must pay for the damage to the exhibit.

Prosecutors say Smith and co-conspirators traveled to Washington, on April 27, 2023, the day of the incident and that she and an accomplice smuggled paint through security by hiding it inside water bottle"

This is really neat. It works, it creates wonderful urban spaces, and it's definitely needed (see my earlier post today).

The Post’s analysis found that sea levels at a tide gauge near the Fowl River rose four times faster in 2010 to 2023 than over the previous four decades...

We all know the Trump is responsible for this. I mean if only he would have directed that sharpie elsewhere!!

Its ok for people to have strong opinions on political issues and be passionate about something and argue hard about it, but flipping out crosses the line. There are responsible climate activists but some are so radicalised to the point of flip out, they always destroy property and annoy people. Yet ask them the basics about the climate they wouldnt know the answer, they just been brianwashed.

Even if there was a serious issue you dont flip out over it, you just stand your ground firm and argue your point.

The whole climate issue is political, its a political issue in the world. I mean in my opinion when people cross the line thats political extremism like those idiots who block or glue themselves to public roads to disturb the public, thats an offence should be taken seriously, or like the people who destroy property thats basic domestic terror because its destorying property for there political cause or there political beliefs.

Not sure what charge that person got for intentionally destorying property as a activist, im guessing it was not domestic political violence.

The star of the show seems to always get a free pass. Ol Greta the globalist puppet has been so called arrested multiple times now always with a smirk on her face knowing she aint going to get charged for nothing and just fake arreets, a free ride home becauae she always gets a free pass and never held accountable for her actions.

Shes 21 now so maybe after multiple arrests one day she might acturaly get charged with an offense and maybe learn a lesson. Yea it doubt it.

She an extremist inciter, most the people who flip out probably look up to her as there god.

Canada’s fire season erupts, sending harmful smoke into United States

Wildfires in Canada have roared back to life, sending harmful smoke into the northern United States — an unwelcome reminder of last summer’s historic fire season that also repeatedly sent plumes of noxious haze southward.

Almost a year to the date from the explosive start to the 2023 fire season, hundreds of fires have erupted in Canada, including a dozen major and out-of-control blazes. At least 500,000 acres (200,000 hectares) of land have burned so far, much of it in recent days.

Smoke from the blazes has led to air quality alerts for much of Alberta and its surrounding provinces, as well as Minnesota and Wisconsin. Edmonton was subjected to red-tinged skies and hazardous air quality over the weekend because of wildfires to its north.

Even during winter, numerous blazes in Canada — known as “zombie fires” — smoldered beneath the snow. The combination of a warm and very dry winter set the stage for flames to quickly expand this spring.

Belts of extreme to exceptional drought are draped across the zone from central British Columbia to northern Alberta, where many of the worst fires rage. The majority of provincial land from Canada’s west coast to Ontario is experiencing at least moderate drought.

But....but....doesn't climate change go away if you erase any mentions of it from state laws? :rolleyes

Record heat hits Florida, where DeSantis scrubbed ‘climate change’ from state laws

Scorching temperatures set numerous records across South Florida on Wednesday, and historically hot conditions for mid-May will persist through the weekend.

On Wednesday, Key West experienced a particularly brutal combination of heat and humidity, registering a heat index of 115 — matching the highest mark on record for any time of year.

The record heat comes after Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) on Wednesday signed a bill scrubbing most references to climate change from state law. Critics say the measure, which will take effect July 1, ignores the threats Florida faces from extreme heat as well as powerful hurricanes and worsening toxic algae blooms.

Hey Uncle, i know your very passionate about climate change and so i would like to respectfully ask you what do you believe needs to change?. What would you like to see changed and how would those changes work?. As in a transition without causing issues and everyone going broke or hungry?.

I mean i enjoy a good BBQ every now and then and i know many climate activists think im destoying the planet and destoying there lives for having a beer and cooking a few steaks on a BBQ with family and friends. gas, coal, or wood BBQ, either way still get accused of contributing to destroying the planet and made to feel guilty.

Well, you and I have gone over that question at least twice before in this thread. Anyways...

Since energy and heating are the biggest sources of GHG emissions, we need to aggressively move away from fossil fuel-based sources of energy and heating and switch to green, non-fossil fuel sources as fast as we reasonably can. The technology is here, we just need to commit and overcome the obstruction of super wealthy fossil fuel interests.

Simultaneously we need to move towards non-fossil fuel vehicles as much as we can. And I also think carbon capture and sequestration technology will have to play a role, to alleviate the consequences we've already baked into the system.

And long term, fewer people on the planet (via attrition) would help as well.

As long i got consistent power and heating as i do now i dont really care, so if it can be more environmentally friendly and they can do it then thats great, as long as its reasonable price and it dont take me back to the stone and i start getting heaps of power cuts or its controlled and im only allowed limited use.

Well transition would take a very very long time without causing serious issues, i mean you cant just wake up tommorow and expect many to be driving a green vehicle. It would take many many years.

I dont think your dream is gone achieve much in the near future, yet climate activists are extreme so they expect change in day or they flip out.

On a side note, do you not think there is science where there could be many other factors why the earth is unstable and causes climate change, maybe like magnetic fields and all sort of different shifts , or is people cooking a steak dinner on a gas BBQ destroying the planet more?.

I am pretty well aware that there will be health benefits from moving away from fossil fuels. But its never going to work unless you invest in fossil fuels and allow the free market to decide.
As mentioned in other articles it shows that younger people are more interested in cleaning up the environment, that's fine.
Young people do not control old people. Corporations control almost all the world, .... combine with religion and the world is shot/ doomed. As Written (not unexpected).
Health Benefits in the world to come are Great!!! Wonderful!!! just not here on earth now, because of greedy people.
But when you're tearing down fossil fuels when you have nothing else in place, the cost of living skyrockets.
Inflation Is Predicted in the Bible I think. Higher and higher and higher it goes. (Planned)
There were "easy", inexpensive replacements for power, fuel, etc all along. Profits Rule Though - so nothing of the inexpensive ways is "permitted" or even known by the public usually if at all.
When you can't make a living and grow because we're constantly beating one another over the head over trivial things like road rage or selfishness then we cant even have a structural society where you don't know what to eat or what to drive anymore. Then what's the point if you're constantly doing this?
YHVH did not predict a structural (helpful) society -- instead He Reveals mankinds forceful tendencies and direction toward destruction, harm, death, .... darkness all through the world.
Jesus is The Light. A few come to Him and are Saved/ Helped/ Healed (in spite of terrible circumstances).
And we're being threatened to get all this forcibly taken away.
Life is not important to corporations, except for profits. The dark world is forcibly and by deception, great deception, getting control more every day.

King Dan the defender of meat, can you answer a couple of questions for us just so we understand how meat will solve hunger?

Given that the average age when beef cattle are slaughtered at is 18 to 24 months.....

1. How many people will one beef cattle feed over a two year period?
2. How many acres of land are needed to feed that same beef cattle over the two year period?
3. After two years, you get one slab of beef. But, over that same two year period, how many harvests might a farmer be able to yield given there are seasonal crops?
4. Using your answer from question #2 for raising your revered slab of meat; How many people might the same parcel of land feed and sustain over the same two year period?

And Dan, for what it's worth, I grew up on a dairy farm.

You ask if i can answer a couple of questions so you can understand how meat will solve hunger?

Well i will start by saying meat is a source of food in the animal kindgom and humans need food to not go hungry, so i think that answers your question. Its kind of simple right?. Meat is food and eating food = Not hungry.

1.How many people will one beef cattle feed over a two year period?

A. Im not sure how many people 1 beef cattle over 2 years can feed. But i do know 1 beef cattle in a day could feed many people.

2. How many acres of land are needed to feed that same beef cattle over the two year period?

A. Depends how many cattle and whatever. Its just grass land and different paddocks not used fpr anything else, probably not even suitable for crops or development so may as well farm cattle on it. I dont know what point your trying to make with that question.

3. After two years, you get one slab of beef. But, over that same two year period, how many harvests might a farmer be able to yield given there are seasonal crops?

A. I dont know the math, as cattle go from field to field over acreage and just eat grass, where crops are sown and harvested on one space over an acreage with different sizes and weights. Whats this got to do with anything?

4. Using your answer from question #2 for raising your revered slab of meat; How many people might the same parcel of land feed and sustain over the same two year period?

A. Depends, maybe none, the farm land might not suitable to plant any type of crop, there are lots of factors involved.

Kind of hard to prove anything with incomplete records .
What's the point anyway ?
Man and corporations are greedy and evil, not helpful.
Food to feed the world is Given By God Generously and without upbraiding. Man though has controlled access to food so much people have no idea how easy it would be to feed everybody HEALTHILY! Much of the processing processes have made food (white processed food/milk) bad , unhealthy, but VERY PROFITABLE especiallyto pharmisick.

"Prove" ;;; Historically there were times of famine and shortages, and times of plenty and well being.
The more that governments get involved, or corporations , the more control they get, and the less good.
