To know that this breath coursing through me is not my own
To know that this life that I live is not mine
To know that you are the ruler of all I am

The watcher of all I do
The hearer of this breath that I breathe
The one who loves me
The one who knows me through and through
The one who sees deeper than I can imagine
The one who lives in me
The one that breathes through me

To know that this flesh will perish but this soul will soar
To know that you give me this hope
To know that you love me unconditionally

The one who understands the state of my heart
The one changes what seems to be unchangeable
The one who does the impossible
The one who is ever faithful
The one who moves me
The one who has won my heart forever
The one who I pursue
The one I long to find

To know that this heart loves…
Loves someone unseen
Loves someone sometimes distant
Loves someone sometimes unheard
But still to love with this broken, weak, rebellious flesh
To love one who loved me first
To love Him

I enjoyed very much butterflyz. Some good depictions, good phrases and ideas that we need to hear, and poetic too. Particularly impressed by the very first verse; thought it would be like something that Paul could have written. And some other of the phrases, messages, I was particularly impressed by too. Good job.

Hey Roxanne,

Thanks, I really appreciate what you said about my poem. I started writing when i was in Matric but then i was all dark and depressing stuff and then I just started writing again 2 years ago. I'm slowly but surely learning to be a better writer.

How long have you been a poet for????

Hi Butterflyz. Thanks for your response. Oh, I must be a lot older than you I think. I started seriously writing in 1980 having scribbled all through my childhood and with a love of reading. I am 43 now.
