Daniel 2:1-3
1 And in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams, wherewith his spirit was troubled, and his sleep brake from him.
2 Then the king commanded to call the magicians, and the astrologers, and the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans, for to shew the king his dreams. So they came and stood before the king.
3 And the king said unto them, I have dreamed a dream, and my spirit was troubled to know the dream.

In Daniel chapter 2, Nebuchadnezzar had a dream and it foretold the history and nations that would come soon after. God gave the King of Babylon a dream, “In the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar, Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams, wherewith his spirit was troubled, and his sleep brake from him.”

And the King "commanded to call the magicians, and the astrologers, and the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans, for to shew the king his dreams", but none could tell him the dream. But God had Daniel at the right place and time and Daniel prayed for God to show him the dream and meaning, and He did so that Daniel was able to come before the King and tell him. We see it in the verses in Daniel 2:31-45...

Daniel 2:31-45
31 Thou, O king, sawest, and behold a great image. This great image, whose brightness was excellent, stood before thee; and the form thereof was terrible.
32 This image's head was of fine gold, his breast and his arms of silver, his belly and his thighs of brass,
33 His legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of clay.
34 Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces.
35 Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.
36 This is the dream; and we will tell the interpretation thereof before the king.
37 Thou, O king, art a king of kings: for the God of heaven hath given thee a kingdom, power, and strength, and glory.
38 And wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all. Thou art this head of gold
39 And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee, and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth.
40 And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron: forasmuch as iron breaketh in pieces and subdueth all things: and as iron that breaketh all these, shall it break in pieces and bruise.
41 And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters' clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay.
42 And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken.
43 And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.
44 And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.
45 Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure."

Notice these things about the image, the head was gold, then as you go down the chest and arms were of silver, his belly and thighs of brass, his legs of iron and his feet part iron and part clay. At the end, a giant stone, which the Bible is clear is Christ at the Second Coming, smites the image at its feet and destroys it all.

Now the bible interprets what these are. Each one of these parts of the body represents kings with kingdoms, and King Nebuchadnezzar and his Kingdom is the head of gold as we see in verse 38 of Daniel 2, "And wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all. Thou art this head of gold."

When you look at who the next three kingdoms are, and you go over what is that the Image of the Kings dream, and the four beasts of Daniels dream in Daniel 7, you see they are the same. We see it in Daniel 7:17-23.
Daniel 7:17-23
17 These great beasts, which are four, are four kings, which shall arise out of the earth.
18 But the saints of the most High shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever.
19 Then I would know the truth of the fourth beast, which was diverse from all the others, exceeding dreadful, whose teeth were of iron, and his nails of brass; which devoured, brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with his feet;
20 And of the ten horns that were in his head, and of the other which came up, and before whom three fell; even of that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake very great things, whose look was more stout than his fellows.
21 I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them;
22 Until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom.
23 Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces."

The four beasts represent four kingdoms they came up out of the sea. According to prophecy the sea or waters represent ‘peoples, nations, multitudes and tongues’, as we see in Revelation 17:15.
Revelation 17:15
And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.

There are also four kingdoms in the Image the king dreamed We can see the last part of the Image is not not another world kingdom, but the same as the Iron kingdom, since the Iron of the legs extend all the way down and ends at the toes. Only at that point, that last stage of the last kingdom will be partly weak and party strong, represented by the Iron and the Clay, and divided into ten divisions when the Kingdom of Iron or Roman Empire falls apart.

Now you will find there are also four beasts in Daniels dream in chapter 7 verse 17, which are also four kingdoms.
"17 These great beasts, which are four, are four kings, which shall arise out of the earth."

Notice also when you read Daniel 7 and 8, how each preceding Kingdom conquers the former Kingdom, an event also taking place among the Kingdoms of the image in Daniel 2. See also how the fourth kingdom in Daniel 2:40 “break in pieces and bruise.” The fourth kingdom of Daniel 7:7 also “breaks in pieces.” So both dreams are about the same thing, but with different symbols.

Now who are the next three kings which take over after Babylon, The second is the Kingdom of the Medes and Persians are the silver. One which history shows was the the Persians, being stronger then the other, which were the Medes, represented by the Bear beast, which rose up after the Lion beast on “one” side. We see it in Daniel 7:4-5.
Daniel 7:4-5
4 The first was like a lion, and had eagle's wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made stand upon the feet as a man, and a man's heart was given to it.
5 And behold another beast, a second, like to a bear, and it raised up itself on one side, and it had three ribs in the mouth of it between the teeth of it: and they said thus unto it, Arise, devour much flesh.

Now after the “bear” beast rose up another beast, or kingdom and its represented as a “leopard” with four “wings” and four “heads”. This beast is the kingdom of Greece, which conquered the kingdom of the Medes and Persians, as we find in Daniel 8:20-21...
Daniel 8:20-21
20 The ram which thou sawest having two horns are the kings of Media and Persia.
21 And the rough goat is the king of Grecia: and the great horn that is between his eyes is the first king.

Now we know that this kingdom of Greece was led by Alexander the Great, whose kingdom was divided into four section which history shows, with four of his generals as kings. This is represented by the four heads of the leopard. So now we have to identify the fourth beast, or fourth part of the image king Nebuchadnezzar dreamed of. Well think about this, what kingdom was in power when Jesus came as the promised Messiah? It was the kingdom of Rome, on this there is no question. And it was Rome that conquered the kingdom of Greece and began to rule the world, and we see the 'legs' of iron and clay in countries still here today. No other beast rose up after this beast, and the only kingdom that would rule after it would be the kingdom of God, as we see the Stone that crushes them at the end. So lets look at history and see what more it tells us.

Now we look at Daniel 7:7-8 which also talks about this beast which was Rome...
Daniel 7:7-8
7 After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns.
8 I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.

Now notice something peculiar about this last kingdom. Daniel speaks of it, “After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns.”

Notice here that Daniel, while hearing the angels interpretation of this fourth beast, is told this beast (kingdom) has 10 horns, and one “little” horn came up out of these 10 horns and “plucked up” 3 of the preceding horns.

Now the Ten horns represent ten kings and an “extra” king rose up out of these Ten, and he “plucked up” or destroyed “three” preceding kings. We see something else..
Daniel 7:25
And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

Well out of this we can give the first identifying mark in finding out who the antichrist will be. So how do we know this “little horn” power is antichrist? Well, “Anti” means “opposite or “in place of” and this little horn king makes himself “opposite” of God by speaking “great words against the most high,” trying to change God’s laws, and by wearing “out the saints of the most high”

This little horn power is the antichrist.

So what are the Ten horns? Well remember how this beast power is Rome? And remember how a “horn” represents kings? Well the Roman Empire has been divided and now we have Western Europe. Here are the 10 divisions by ancient and modern name:

(1) Alemanni – Germany
(2) Franks – France
(3) Anglo-Saxons – England
(4) Burgundians – Switzerland
(5) Visigoths – Spain
(6) Suevi – Portugal
(7) Lombards – Italy
(8) Heruli
(9) Vandals
(10) Ostrogoths

Why don’t you see the last three, Heruli, Vandals and the Ostrogoths, on your map? Simply because these are the 3 horns that the antichrist “plucked up.”

So now we have FIVE identification marks to help us identify the Antichrist:

(1) He will rise up out of the Ten divisions of Rome
(2) He will destroy 3 of the kings among these Ten divisions
(3) He will “speak great words against the most high”
(4) He will “wear out” the saints of God. He is a persecuting power
(5) He “thinks to change times and laws” Daniel 7:25

We see Rome today, but it is not as strong as it was when it ruled the world before it was divided, but Rome still exists especially as we see the parts in Europe. That’s why the feet of the image in Daniel 2 still have the same “iron” as the legs, except this time its only “partly” strong, as she is today. So we can see how we are at the last days, because in the dream we see a Stone which “smote” it at it’s feet, and destroyed it. This stone is the kingdom of God.

So if you look at the history the timeline matches up to what scripture shows us. The kingdoms of Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, Rome line up as prophecy shows actual events to occur throughout the history of Christianity from the time of Daniel until the end time. If you read your history, you will find that this understanding of who is the AntiChrist was the viewpoint of almost all Protestant Reformers and their churches from the Reformation into our era, but now is being twisted and distorted.

There are many people bringing in seeds of doubt which are wiping away the understanding Christians had. Bringing in false ideas that biblical prophecies concerning the Last Days refer to Preterism or events which took place in the first century after Christ's birth so thus nothing applies to the true history that prophecy shows. then you have others who use the twisting of Futurism, where it is clouded even more by those who say all or most of the prophecy the Bible gives us on this is in the future, right before the Second Coming. So it hides what points to the truth which history shows and we have nothing which we can apply as one has to wait, for essentially a lie.

Now if one follows what history gives us, suddenly the events line up, Alexander the Great is shown just when he appears in the flow of events given in prophecy, the Roman Empire comes right after, just as prophecy gave all the way to the Last Days. History shows us that the timeline in Biblical prophecy match up and are the Dark Ages in which the Roman Catholic Church did in fact "war against the saints". It was one of the major reason for the Protestant Reformation which come up to essentially 1260 years which ended when this entiry was wounded and basically set aside by this blow to its power.

The Protestants Reformers and theologians understood and saw that this religious-political entity in these 1260 years, from 538 AD to 1798 AD was in fact the antichrist power that Daniel prophesized about. Daniel said that that the saints would be given to his hand for "a time and times and half a time". A time represents a year in the Hebrew 360-day year. So 3 1/2 times is 3 1/2 years. This equals 42 months based on the biblical 30-day month--or 1,260 days. In Thessalonians 2 Paul told us when the 1260 years would begin. It was when the "restrainer" was removed.

Why this prophesy of Daniel is so important is that it happened exactly as prophesized. The Roman Empire began to disintegrate in the late 4th and early 5th century as invasions overwhelmed the capacity of the Empire to govern and mount a coordinated defense and the Roman Caesar "restrainer" was being removed. The 1260 year period when the antichrist power would preside over the dark ages, with its persecution and inquisitions, etc began a little later in 538 AD after the Roman Empire and the Caesars ruling at Rome had collapsed to allow another power to come in and the eastern empire ruler Emperor Justinian issued his famous decree that made the Pope the legal "Head of all the Holy Churches". This began the prophesized reign of that antichrist during the Dark Ages, starting at 538 AD and reigning unfettered till 1798 AD, when it took a blow to its power.

So what does history shows us in 1798 AD, it shows Napoleon's army under General Berthier entered Rome with his French troops and took down this entity.

Who is the AntiChrist? (Identifying Him)

Before spending all this time seeking to identify one man consider the spiritual aspect

even now already is it in the world

I'm fond of music, often the heavier the better, a few of songs come to mind to offer a perspective of who the antichrist is

and I could go on ad nauseam, same with movies and TV, but this is somewhat Gnostic in nature and there's no Gnostic board here

We're in a time where Satan must be most proud, we worship self at every turn, AI looms to glorify our divinity and will likely be promoted to govern soon, an abomination?

Back to my point, if we look to self for the cause of our trouble, for something antichrist, again look to self, flesh, sin and rot, what might we find there?

Jesus came to teach, show us the way, He did that on the cross and instructs us to follow and carry our cross, carry where?

To self or surrender self?

Remember, man of sin only needs to be revealed

I don't want to promote this article, only the idea of a man made of straw who's "possible" existence may have haunted you from birth

If the spirit of antichrist denies flesh, and the world operates on straw, then ask first, who and where are you?

Below is that of the seven remaining nations described as four beasts in Daniel 7:1-8 and the three kingdoms that were subdued by the little horn, which is the Roman Empire.

The three kingdoms that were subdued by the little horn of Daniel 7:24 are the Heruli, Vandals, and Ostrogoths who were eliminated by the year 538 AD under the leadership of the Eastern Roman Emperor Justinian whose deadly wound came in 1798.

Seven remaining nations that still exist today:

Babylonian Empire:
(Iraq) The lion represents the winged lions that guarded the royal places of Babylon. This Empire ran from 2000BC - 1759BC

Medo - Persian Empire:
(Iran) The ribs of the bear are part of the consuming greed that devours the first empire. This Empire ran approximately from 536BC - 330BC

Grecian Empire:
(Greece, Turkey, Syria, Egypt) Four wings of the leopard described the swiftness of this empire that ran from 334-331BC. It wrestled world dominion from Medo-Persia. After the death of Alexander the Great the kingdom was divided into four minor kingdoms that continued as prominent factors in world politics until the Roman Empire gathered it back as one kingdom.

Roman Empire: (little horn, Daniel 8:9-14, 23-27)
Iron represents the stronghold this nation had. Daniel chapter 2 mentions the iron element of this empire that it to will be divided and broken as God will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed.
This Empire ran from 753BC -27BC

The seven heads are that of the Babylonian Empire, Medo/Persian Empire, Grecian Empire and Roman Empire. The ten horns represent the nations the Roman Empire scattered to when the deadly wound was put upon them, Daniel 7:23-25; Rev 13:3. The deadly wound came in 1798 when General Berthier of France, who made his entrance into Rome, abolished the Roman government and established a secular one and captured Pope Pius VI, who soon died in captivity in Valence, on August 29, 1799. In 1801 Napoleon made an agreement with Pope Pius II establishing Napoleon s Organic Articles of granting the Tribunal and the Corps legislative partial control of the concordat in order to help the state monitor any politically harmful Catholic or Protestant movements or activities. The wound was largely healed in 1929 when Mussolini gave the Vatican back to Pope Pius XI and established it as a country in it's own right in the Lateran Treaty.

The Roman Empire began in 753BC by Romulus who founded Rome in 27BC with Augustus Caesar becoming the first emperor of Rome in 27 BC and died in 14AD. Rome controlled over two million square miles stretching from the Rhine River to Egypt and from Britain (England) to Asia Minor which made up the Grecian Empire of Greece, Turkey, Syria and Egypt. In 146BC the Romans destroyed Corinth during the Battle of Corinth and made the Greece Empire into a province of the Roman Empire. This timeline goes from 753BC to 27BC. Nero burned Rome in 64AD and blamed the Christian community in the city causing the Roman Empires first persecution of Christians. In 1453 was the rise of the Ottoman Empire that conquered Constantinople destroying the Byzantine Empire (Eastern Roman Empire) that reigned from 330AD to 1453AD. The Roman Empire was then called the Holy Roman Empire that was a political entity beginning in 800AD - 1806AD from the time of Charlemagne (Holy Roman Emperor) who protected Pope Leo III from Adrian's supporters in Rome to Francis II, King of France. Pope Pius VII was the Pope from 1800-1823. The Roman Empire is known today as Vatican City, a city-state surrounded by Rome and Italy who has diplomatic relations with every nation around the world.

The crowns on its heads show that this dragon claims royal authority against the true King who is God of all creation as he prepares to take his seat above all that which is Gods Kingdom claiming he is God as he prepares to deceive the world through that of an existing Roman Empire, Daniel 8:9-12; Isaiah 14:12-15.

The beast rises up out of the sea, Rev 13, as the sea here is symbolic of people and nations as in a sea of humanity, Daniel Chapter 7:1-8; Revelation 17:15. The seven heads are that of the Babylonian Empire, Medo/Persian Empire, Grecian Empire and Roman Empire. The ten horns represent the nations the Roman Empire scattered to when the deadly wound was put upon them, Daniel 7:15-28.

These ten nations were the Anglo-Saxons (Germans in Great Britain), the Franks (French), Suevi (Portuguese), Visigoths (Spanish), Burgundians (Swiss), Alemanni (Germans), Lombards (Italians), Ostrogoths, Heruli, and the Vandals in northern Africa. The last three being Ostrogoths, Heruli, and the Vandals had already been destroyed by the Roman Empire before their deadly wound came in 1798.

The beast out of the earth, Rev 13:11-18, is the revived Roman Empire (mystery Babylon) which causes man to take its mark. Daniel 7:25 and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, He will think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time, 2 Thessalonians 2:13-12.

Yes, but this religious entity comes from within the church, and these are not what I would call 'believers' in any sense of the word.

That was a great exposition until it failed. John's vision of the Beast Empire rising from the sea, has a Grecian body, therefore the kingdom of Assyria is a major part. The Antichrist will trace his lineage back to Antiochus, an Assyrian Jewish Christian named Adonikam according to John's riddle and many pertinent Scriptures:

That was a great exposition until it failed. John's vision of the Beast Empire rising from the sea, has a Grecian body, therefore the kingdom of Assyria is a major
Here is why Antiochus Epiphanes does not come into the equation..

"Historicists and futurists do diverge, however, when they come to the little horn that arises out of the fourth power, Rome (Daniel 7:8-9, 20-21, 24-25).

The former identify it as the papal horn, which came out of pagan Rome; the latter, holding to a gap in the flow of prophetic history, identify it as the still future anti-Christ.

While acknowledging (as all the schools do) that the first beast is Babylon, the preterist interpretation identifies the second and third beast of Daniel 7 as Media and then Persia, with the fourth beast being Greece (which arises after Persia) and the little horn coming out of Greece as Antiochus Epiphanes. This argument, however, falls apart on numerous grounds, including the lack of historical data to warrant that separation of Media and Persia into two successive kingdoms.

In contrast, support for the interpretation of Daniel 7 as being Babylon, Media-Persia, Greece, and Rome can be found in the interpretation of the ram in Daniel 8. Its two disproportionate horns are specifically identified as the kings of Media and Persia together (vs. 20), reflective of the duality found in the prophets view of the bear in Daniel 7, which was raised up one side (Daniel 7:5). Meanwhile, the three-directional nature of the rams conquests (Daniel 8:4) also parallels the three ribs depicted in the mouth of the bear (Daniel 7:5), since it expanded to the north (Lydia), to the west (Babylon), and to the south (Egypt), an accurate description of the Media-Persian expansion.

Thus, if in Daniel 7 Media-Persia is the second beast, and Greece the third, then the nondescript beast, the fourth beast in the prophecy, must represent Rome, the great power that arose after Greece. Therefore, the little horn that came from this fourth beast cannot represent Antiochus IV, who arose prior to, and not after, Rome.

Thus, if the little horn in Daniel 8 is an entity that came out of Rome, not Greece, what is its relationship to the little horn in Daniel 8? Could the little horn in Daniel 8 still be Antiochus Epiphanes, even though the little horn in Daniel 7 cannot? Though its certainly possible that it could be referring to two different powers, significant arguments exist in favor of identifying the little horns in these two chapters as the same historical entity.

1) Both are identified with the same symbol: a horn

7:8ff, Aramaic, qeren 8:9 ff, Hebrew qeren

2) Both are described as 'little' at the outset.

7:8, Aramaic, zerath 8:9. Hebrew, serath

3) Both are described as becoming ?great? later on.

7:20, Aramaic, rab 8:99ff, Hebrew, gadal

4) Both are described as persecuting powers.

7:21, 25 8:10, 24

5) Both have the same target group as object of their persecution.

7: 27 ?people of the saints, 8: 24 ?people of the saints?

Aramaic, am quaddise Hebrew, am qedosim Cf. vss. 21, 25

6) Both are described as self-exalting and blasphemous powers.

7:8, 11, 20, 25 8:10-12, 25

7) Both are described as crafty and intelligent.

7:8 ?eyes of a man? 8:25 ?cunning and deceit?

8) Both represent the final and greatest anti-God climax of their visions.

How much more evidence does one need? The little horn power of Daniel 7 and the littler horn power of Daniel 8 are both the same entity, and because the little horn in Daniel 7 cannot be Antiochus Epiphanes, the little horn in Daniel 8 cant be, either. Meanwhile, textual evidence within Daniel 8 itself also helps debunk the Antiochus interpretation for the little horn."...

...Daniel 8
Because Antiochus IV is commonly identified with the little horn of Daniel 8, arguments favoring this identification will be considered first:

1) Antiochus was a Seleucid king. As one of this dynasty who assumed control in part of Alexanders old empire, Antiochus did proceed from the breakup of the Grecian empire after the death of Alexander.

2) Antiochus? succession was irregular. According to the chapter, this little horn arose, ?but not with his power,? which suggests that the little horn came to power through an irregular succession. A son of Seleucus IV should have succeeded to the rule after his fathers assassination. However, the kings brother, Antiochus IV, came to the throne instead, aided by the armies of Pergamos. It is possible to apply the phrase ?but not by his own power? to this course of events.

3) Antiochus persecuted the Jews.

4) Antiochus polluted the Jerusalem temple and disrupted its services. However, it remains to be seen whether he did all the things against the temple that Daniel 8 says the little horn did"....

...Meanwhile, there are a number of arguments from Daniel 8 against equating Antiochus IV with the little horn.

1) Comparative greatness of the little horn. In the chapter, the Persian ram ?magnified himself? (8:4); the Grecian goat ?magnified himself exceedingly? (8:8). By contrast the little horn magnified itself ?exceedingly ?in different directions. On the horizontal level it ?grew exceedingly great? toward the south, east, and glorious land. On the vertical plane it ?grew great . . . to the host of heaven,? and ultimately ?magnified itself . . . up to the Prince of the host? (8:9-11).

The verb ?to be great,? gādal, occurs only once each with Persia and Greece, but it appears three times with the little horn. In other words, the little horn was greater than the two powers that preceded it in the chapter, which means Antiochus IV should have exceeded the Media-Persian and Greek empires in greatness. Obviously, he didn?t. He wasn?t even close. Indeed, he ruled only one portion of the Grecian Empire, and did that with but little success. In this crucial point, Antiochus fails miserably.

2) Conquests. The horn ?grew exceedingly great toward the south, toward the east, and toward the glorious land.?

a. To the south. The predecessor to Antiochus IV was the king who added Palestine to the territory ruled by the Seleucids when he defeated armies at Paneas in 198 B.C. Antiochus IV attempted to extend his southern frontier into Egypt with the campaign of 170-168 B.C. He was successful in conquering most of the Delta in 169 B.C. The following year (168 B.C.) he marched on Alexandria but was turned back by a Roman diplomatic mission and had to abandon his Egyptian conquests. Thus his partial success in Egypt was transitory, and it is doubtful that he really did grow ?exceedingly great toward the south.?

b. To the east. Antiochus IV?s predecessor, not Antiochus IV himself, subjugated the east with his victorious campaigns of 210-206 B.C. that took him to the frontier of India. Most of the territories involved rebelled and became independent, however, after the Romans defeated him at Magnesia. Antiochus IV attempted to regain some of this territory. After some initial diplomatic and military successes, his forces stalled. He died during the course of these campaigns, apparently from natural causes, in the winter of 164/3 B.C. Antiochus IV did have some initial successes, he did not accomplish nearly as much in this area as his predecessor, and this project was left incomplete at Antiochus IV?s death. Thus his partial and incomplete military successes hardly match the prophetic prediction of the little horn ?growing exceedingly great? toward the east.

c. To the glorious land. Antiochus IV is noted in 1 Maccabees 1-6 as the ruler who desecrated the temple and persecuted the Jews. This did not occur because of any conquest of his own, but because his predecessor had already taken Palestine. Antiochus IV, therefore, could not have ?grown exceedingly great toward the glorious land? (Judea, presumably) in any sense of military conquest. He could have ?[grown] exceedingly? only in the sense of exercising or abusing his control over what was already part of his kingdom when he came to the throne.

Indeed, not only was Antiochus IV not the conqueror of Palestine, but defeats of his forces toward the end of his reign in the region eventually led to the complete independence of Judea. While he was campaigning in the east, his Palestinian forces were beaten (1 Macc 3:57; 4:29) in Judea. Toward the end of 164 B.C. the Jews liberated the polluted temple from their hands and rededicated it (1 Macc 5:52). Antiochus died in the east shortly thereafter, early in 163 B.C. (1 Macc 6:15).

In short, the net results of what Antiochus accomplished in these three geographical spheres was negligible, even (in some cases) negative. Thus he hardly fits the specification of this prophecy, which states that the little horn was to grow ?exceedingly great toward the south, toward the east, and toward the glorious land.?

3) Anti-temple activities.

The phrase, ?the place of his sanctuary was cast down? (8:11, KJV) indicates what was done to the temple building, God?s dwelling place itself, by the little horn. According to Daniel 8:11, it was this ?place,? this māk?n of God?s sanctuary, that was to be cast down by the little horn, something that Antiochus never did. Though he did desecrate temple, as far as is it is known, he did not damage its architecture in any significant way.

4) Time factors for the little horn:

a. Time of origin. The little horn?dated in terms of the four kingdoms that came from Alexanders empire was to come up ?at the latter end of their rule? (8:23). The only problem is that the Seleucid dynasty consisted of a line of more than 20 kings who ruled from 311 to 65 B.C., and Antiochus IV was the eighth in line of those kings (he ruled from 175 to 164/3 B.C.). Because more than a dozen Seleucids ruled after him, and fewer than a dozen ruled before him, he hardly arose ?at the latter end of their rule.? The Seleucids ruled for a century and a third before Antiochus IV and a century after him, which places him within two decades of the midpoint of the dynasty and not ?at the latter end of their rule.?

b. Duration. The chronological time frame (?unto 2300 evening-mornings?) in Daniel 8:14 has been interpreted as the time that Antiochus IV had desecrated the temple or persecuted the Jews. The precise dates for this are well established, and they covered a period of exactly three years and ten days. Neither 2300 literal days (six years, four and two-thirds months) nor 1150 literal days (made by pairing evening and morning sacrifices to make full days) fits this historical period, since even the shorter of the two is two months too long.

c. The End. When Gabriel came to Daniel to explain the vision of chapter 8, he introduced his explanation with the statement, ?Understand, O son of man, that the vision is for the time of the end? (8:17). At the beginning of his actual explanation Gabriel again emphasized this point by stating, ?Behold, I will make known to you what shall be at the latter end of the indignation; for it pertains to the appointed time of the end? (8:19). The phrases, ?the time of the end? and ?the appointed time of the end,? are also essential for a correct identity of the little horn.

Because the third and final section of the vision is concerned mainly with the little horn and its activities, it seems reasonable to conclude that the horn relates most directly to the ?time of the end.? The end of the little horn, therefore, should coincide in one way or another with ?the time of the end.?

At a bare chronological minimum Daniels time prophecies (Dan 9:24-27) had to extend to the time of the Messiah, Jesus, in the first century AD. ?The time of the end? could arrive only some time after the fulfillment of that prophecy concerning Jesus (after all, how could there be ?the time of the end? before Christ came?). Therefore, there is no way that Antiochus, who died in 164/3 B.C., fits with ?the time of the end.?

5) Nature or the end or the little horn. According to the prophecy, the little horn was to come to its end in a particular way. ?But, by no human hand, he shall be broken? (8:25), similar to the language that brought and end to the statue in Daniel 2 (Daniel 2:34), indicating supernatural intervention. Given the nature of the statement in 8:25, how could Antiochus IV fulfill this particular specification? As far as is known, he died of 'natural causes, not from extraordinary circumstances' during the course of his eastern campaign in 164/3 B.C.

6) Origin of the little horn

Much ado is made regarding the origin of the little horn. The texts in questions are as follows: ?Therefore the he goat waxed very great: and when he was strong, the great horn was broken; and for it came up four notable ones toward the four winds of heaven. And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land? (Daniel 8: 8, 9). The question arises, when it says that 'out of one of them' came forth a little horn, what did the 'them' refer to, one of the 'four notable ones,' the four generals who divided Alexanders empire (out of which Antiochus came), or was it from one of 'the four winds of heaven,' that is, simply, one of the compass points of the map? The evidence points strongly in favor of the latter, that is, the little horn came of out the 'four winds of heaven,' which is the immediate antecedent of the phrase, 'and out of one of them.' The original Hebrews reads, 'and from the one, from them,' the 'them' being the plural nouns closest to the phrase itself, which are 'the four winds of heaven' (in Hebrew 'heaven' is a plural noun). Much grammatical, syntactical, and contextual evidence points to 'the winds of heaven,' not the four 'notable ones,' as the origin point of the little horn power."...Why Antiochus IV Is Not the Little Horn of Daniel 8 - 1844 Made Simple

I agree, Antiochus is not the little horn:

So one must look for what fulfills all the prophecy on the antichrist power and its not that hard..

So one must look for what fulfills all the prophecy on the antichrist power and its not that hard..
I disagree. Commentators throughout history have wondered how the "antichrist" (against Christ) can also be a "false Christ". Paul hints how when he uses two names, the "man of sin" and "son of perdition" (2 Thess. 2:3) to describe him. He first appears as the false Christ "man of sin" condoning sin, but after 3.5 years reveals himself to be "the antichrist" betrayer, "son of perdition."

That is why the Beast (government) that rises from the sea has two mouths, one like a lion (False Christ) the first 3.5 years, then a blasphemous mouth (Antichrist; little horn)

NKJ Revelation 13:1 Then I stood on the sand of the sea. And I saw a beast rising up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his horns ten crowns, and on his heads a blasphemous name.
2 Now the beast which I saw was like a leopard, his feet were like the feet of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. The dragon gave him his power, his throne, and great authority.
3 And I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and his deadly wound was healed. And all the world marveled and followed the beast.
4 So they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, "Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?"
5 And he was given a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies, and he was given authority to continue for forty-two months.
6 Then he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme His name, His tabernacle, and those who dwell in heaven.
7 It was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them. And authority was given him over every tribe, tongue, and nation. (Rev. 13:1-7 NKJ)

That is confirmed in Daniel, at first he covenants with the world's religions, but in "mid week" (3.5 years) brings to an end all religious practice that isn't worship of himself:

Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week; But in the middle of the week He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering.

And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate
, Even until the consummation, which is determined, Is poured out on the desolate." (Dan. 9:27 NKJ)

He performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men. (Rev. 13:13 NKJ)

Britian and America unite under a False Prophet and with their "alien tech", a "flying wing" the Beast controls, he can rain down fire on anyone who opposes him, perhaps a space based weapon:

Its also their computer technology that makes the 666 Mark membership only economy possible. Against the better judgment of the earth's leaders, they are convinced to build the monstrosity and give it control of their economies:

And he deceives those who dwell on the earth by those signs which he was granted to do in the sight of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who was wounded by the sword and lived. (Rev. 13:14 NKJ)
