Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness (Genesis 1:26a). (Christ) is the image of the invisible God, the First-born of all creation (Colossians 1:15). Because Jesus Christ is the image of the invisible God, we are being made in the image of God as we are conformed to the likeness of Jesus Christ. For whom he did foreknow (the called), he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren (Romans 8:29). Until we all come into the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a full-grown man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; (Ephesians 4:13). On this sixth day of creation, God is yet making man in His own image. Man is as a beast (Ecclesiastes 3:18), before receiving the Spirit to be born again as a new creation in Christ.

But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat of it: for in the day that thou eat thereof you shall surely die (Genesis 2:17). Adam and Eve spiritually died from their sin (James 1:15) when they ate of the tree. They became spiritually separated from God by a guilty conscience for transgressing the command “do not eatâ€Â. This is comparable to man becoming separated from God and spiritually dead in trespasses and sins for disobedience. Man was awakened to the reality of evil when he willfully sinned by transgressing the command not to partake of the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

And the serpent said unto the woman, You shall not surely die: For God knows that in the day you eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and you shall be as gods, knowing good and evil (Genesis 3:4-5). The following verses show, their eyes were opened, and they became like God in knowing good and evil, even though they suffered and spiritually died for their disobedience. And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; (Genesis 3:7). Their eyes were opened and they were condemned by a guilty conscience for transgressing the command not to partake of the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

This is just as we might find our self in some situation of life today, learning obedience by suffering for our disobedience. Adam and Eve tried to hide their guilt by covering themselves as we might try to conceal sin in our life. We might try to cover our sin by acts of self-righteousness or good deeds. Our works as an attempt at being righteous before God are as filthy rags; only the blood of the Son of God Jesus Christ cleanses us of our sin.

Because you have listened to the voice of your wife, and have eaten of the tree, which I commanded you saying, you shall not eat of it: cursed is the ground for your sake; (Genesis 3:17). Because they transgressed the command not to partake of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, God was just in judging them for their sin of disobedience. This was for their own good, so they would learn to know good and evil, and appreciate what is good.

But we might see the “fall of man†as part of God's plan in creating man in His own image, because it was not until after the fall of man into sin that the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil:sadGenesis 3:22a): The Lord God did not declare man to be like one of Us in knowing good and evil until after their “fall into sin†by eating from the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

We gain knowledge of good and evil as we are exposed to the tests and trials of life each day. I have seen the travail, which God hath given to the sons of men to be exercised in it (Ecclesiastes 3:10). God allows evil to teach us the damaging effect of sin. I form the light, and create darkness: make peace, and create evil. I the Lord do all these things (Isaiah 45:7). The Lord allowed evil so we could come to know what good and evil are. Evil is allowed in the world so we can learn to discern between good and evil; for without evil, we would not learn or appreciate good.

The Bible says, it is “appointed†unto man once to die, but after this the judgment (Hebrews 9:27). If we willfully live in sin, we become spiritually dead in trespasses and sins (Ephesians 2:1), which leads to death (Romans 6:23). Because sin is transgression of the Law (1 John 3:4), there had to be a law for there to be a transgression; for where there is no law, there is no transgression (Romans 4:15). If God had told them “to eat of the tree†after saying, “do not eatâ€Â, it would have cancelled the command “do not eatâ€Â. There would have been no transgression and condemnation for eating of the tree.

No one is justified by the Law in the sight of God is clear, for, "The just shall live by faith." But the Law is not of faith; but, "The man who does these things shall live in them" (Galatians 3:11-12). If we live by Law, we are accountable to keeping the Law for our righteousness.

Whosoever commits sin transgresses also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law (1 John 3:4). But sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under Law, but under grace (Romans 6:14). Because the law works wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression (Romans 4:15). As we live by the grace of God for our faith in Jesus Christ, we are not held accountable to the Law, and our sins are forgiven as we repent and confess our sins, to be born again by being reconciled to God when forgiven of all trespasses and sins. For by grace you are saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, (Ephesians 2:8). We are saved from guilt and condemnation for our sins by the grace of God for our faith in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins, not by our own works of righteousness. When we are born again, we have been joined together with Christ into His death, and raised to life together with Christ in the resurrection. We are righteous because we have died with Christ and Christ being the life in and through us is our righteousness. We are purified of sin as God works in our life to conform us to the image of Jesus Christ to have our mortal body “changed€Â. This is the resurrection of the body.

With love in Christ,........God bless
