They are essential services... grocery stores, food production including growing and all service support staff (like mechanics and vendors) are needed.

It's all the fluff stuff like concerts, catered events, country clubs, spa, gyms, movie theaters and etc that are closed.

I wish it didn't include food trucks...but a net result of so many people working from home is that most of these are shut down.

All state and federal parks are closed.
*Sigh*
Not a lot of fun stuff to do out there.

Yea well, try telling the powers that be that.

Apparently preventing 19 means that everyone in the country must go and enter a very small number of the same big corp food giants, and all other small private business food providers must either sell to the giants or shut down to prevent 19 as my articles above have said.

Explain how that works.

I might go to the essential service and purchase some beers, smokes, crisps, chocolate, and some candy because im allowed as it's an essential food service. Yet I will not go to a butcher for some meat or the fruit and vegetable store as they are closed as we don't want to spread 19.

So now...

I cannot go across the road and catch myself a fish for dinner. That is illegal.

I cannot go to any small private business and get some meat, fruit, or vegetables. That is illegal as they are shut down to prevent the spread of 19.

I cannot sell or trade any food as that is illegal.

Now I am only allowed however to enter only specific Corporate Giants that millions of other people must enter and purchase from, as they are an essential service. That is to prevent the spread of 19, all in the name of health and safety of course.

It's all about preventing the spread of 19, so everyone must enter only a select few elite stores for food.

As you can see my friend there are a lot of excuses people are making for continuing to import from China

They aren't thinking of the long run like you and I, about the benefits to everyone in the west. Probably cos they're too old to be alive to see the benefits
They're only focused on how much they will have to pay in the immediate term for their goods, "just give me my cheap sneakers" selfish really
I hear the Australian government is taking a step back from its relationship with China and re-evaluating it going forward. Good for them.

I was sort of feeling like that all last night and most of this morning. I kept getting headache after headache, and then last night I had an awful migraine that wouldn't go away until this morning after I took a Sudafed and an Advil. (Which I've heard that you're not actually supposed to do if you have the virus.)

Then this morning I didn't get up until nearly noon feeling fatigued and I was sick to my stomach basically for an hour or so,.. but now my headache's gone and I'm feeling totally fine otherwise I wouldn't be here right now, but it sure was scary nonetheless. :sad (Oh yeah and I didn't have a fever last night either so I'm pretty sure that it was just allergies and sinuses acting up. :yes)
They're finding the most common pre-fever symptom is lack of taste/smell.

Most of the"homeless" here in America have both mental health issues and chemical dependant issues. They receive a check and are eligible for housing but would rather be homeless.
They are there by choice pure and simple.
Don't buy into the lie that they have no choice.
I've done extensive work with the homeless...they get angry when the mask and veils are removed...but the truth is mental health and chemical dependant.
You can't lump all homeless into that round hole. The square peg model applies to those who were homeless ,but found a way out or received help to get out. There are indeed many who have no choice due to the fact that, while they qualify for benefits, the government requires direct deposit in order to receive those benefits. Banks do not let people open bank accounts unless they have an address. It's a Catch-22 to deny homeless S.S. benefits.

People do know 19 is not airbourne right. What's with all the masks, I just wear gloves and don't cough and sneeze around people, if I need to sneeze I cover it.
It might just be airborne at that. I believe the virus is much more transmissible than the government/media let on.

330 million people sweetheart...
That's how many people are citizens of the United States

That many tests is a nightmare in administration alone... nevermind actually doing them.

And as far as a vaccine...a minimum of a year...if they find one. All these early claims of having one are bunk and likely not very effective.
If they did find one that is very effective immediately it still will take a year. But currently they still haven't even found the right antibodies yet...and those are needed to find the right vaccine.

They got it narrowed down to it being one out of a group of 1,000 different antibodies.

It's going to take a bit of time from here out to narrow the field a bit more.
Not to mention all the undocumented.

The majority of Americans still don't walk around in masks. There are nowhere near enough tests/supplies to find and quarantine the infected. Inexplicably, travelers continue to bring infection to their local communities with relative impunity. 44 students who went to Mexico for spring vacation are now infected, and have brought that back to the USA.

Maybe New Zealand can do better.
Our last trip to the store had about 20% in masks....time before that was about 10%. Hopefully that continues to improve to larger and larger percentages bothering with PPE as masks become available.

They won't let individuals protect themselves. The FDA banned people from importing K95 masks. If they won't help, at least get out of the way. N95 are going to medics, so let the public import K95 masks for their own use when they go shopping. They are better than nothing.
"Let them eat cake" is a policy that will come back to haunt them.

Good idea. Better idea to produce enough tests/supplies so all of the infected can be located and quarantined. Win the war against 19 already so America can go back to work.

Without millions of tests, this thing could go on for a number of months. Make masks too, to keep us safe until infected people can be found.
This is being called a "Black Swan"event. Life changing for everyone.

The biggest winner from all of this are the banks
People left without work will have to forfeit their mortgage

In China the government owns the banks so anyone who defaults on their mortgage in China is handing over the property to the government

Saw a coronavirus update where the Doctor said many cases that are asymptomatic are that way because the virus tricks the body into not running a fever. Therefore the earliest symptoms of loss of taste/smell should be paid more attention too. He also brought up the prospect of using hot/cold therapy in early stages to trigger an immune response earlier instead of letting the asymptomatic body wait until it's often too late to finally run a fever. Mimicking a fever through hot therapy might trigger the body to respond earlier. The virus tricks the body into staying fever free until the virus has overwhelmed the body's defenses often with dire consequences.
