I've played pretty much most of the resident evil games, which were a lot of fun.

But are those style of games considered sinful?

More like Resident Gory...

My ex Brother-In-Law (sister's ex hubby) was a Hollywood Movie Producer wanna-be. His movie was entitled, "Little Cory Gory," but it never caught on. Big corporations ripped him off of his rights to his own movie (yeah, 'Unheard of,' --not). The production value was excellent but the subject matter? Worse than questionable. Objectionable is more like it. There's a big appetite for such things.

some names matter Act_4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Hey Jesus, thought i would give ya call to see if you would like to drop by and play a few rounds of Resident Evil ....

IMHO, I would steer clear of such video games. I spent hours and hours playing COD a few years back. In fact, maybe even all video games (difficult when you're growing up I know). How do they benefit your walk with God? They don't and walking around with a video game character shooting people/monsters is hardly an activity that allows you to grow in the knowledge of God.

Be careful, the devil will love to keep you entertained with other things as opposed to living for God. not saying it's easy to just drop the video games and move on, but I would suggest that is the path to take brother.

1 John 2:15
Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

Maybe we women think differently about all this since we're the ones that get to raise the kids.

1. Everything one is exposed to will have an affect and an effect on his life.

2. If a kid can't do it, why should an adult be able to?

3. Children have changed a great deal in the past one or two generations because of these games. Grand Theft Auto has caused persons to knock people over in real life. They just walk up to them and hit them hard on the head. This is also happening in Europe.

4. Would you play this game if Jesus were around? I doubt it.

5. Some things are more tolerable than others. These games are not tolerable because they change people. They are evil and glorify satan.

6. I think Jesus spoke to this stuff in Mathew 5:29...
Something about plucking out your right eye if it makes you stumble.

I'm sorry, I feel very strongly about these games. The world was a better place when they didn't exist. Fortunes are made by ruining our children. I wish they had never been invented.

BTW, maybe if all things are permissible but not all are profitable
1 Corinthians 20:23...
Maybe I could indulge in some adultery??
Yeah. That's the ticket.

I believe spending ones time playing the 'Resident Evil' is indeed evil.

When I was growing up young people didn't have distractions like this. We used to play outdoors whatever the weather. When we were old enough we went out and worked for a living.

I can't imagine how anyone could subject themselves to such horrendous images.

Would Jesus have lazed around playing sick video games?

It's not promoting sin. :lol

I don't know Brother. I have never played it. Not much of a gamer.

I played GTA San Andreas, and...prostitutes. ..robbery...so forth...I had to put it down. Just something the Lord put in my heart.

I shut the cable off. I do spend entirely too much time on youtube though, lol. I like re-runs of The Rifleman even though a lot of people die...

Resident evil is actually created by a Christian organization called "umbrella". Its creator said in an exclusive interview on buzzfeed back in 1997 that the game was a critique on the zombification of our children , by way of suppressing the mental faculties in the brain which are necessary for critical and free thinking. Is it a sin to play resident evil? Its a sin not to.

Yes. Very obviously so. Just read the Bible.

Philippians 4:8
8 Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.

Ephesians 5:3-12
3 But immorality or any impurity or greed must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints;
4 and there must be no filthiness and silly talk, or coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks.
5 For this you know with certainty, that no immoral or impure person or covetous man, who is an idolater, has an inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.
6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.
7 Therefore do not be partakers with them;
8 for you were formerly darkness, but now you are Light in the Lord; walk as children of Light
9 (for the fruit of the Light consists in all goodness and righteousness and truth),
10 trying to learn what is pleasing to the Lord.
11 Do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but instead even expose them;
12 for it is disgraceful even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret.

Psalm 101:2-4
2 I will ponder the way that is blameless. Oh when will you come to me? I will walk with integrity of heart within my house;
3 I will not set before my eyes anything that is wicked. I hate the work of those who fall away; it shall not cling to me.
4 A perverse heart shall be far from me; I will know nothing of evil.

Isaiah 33:15-16
15 He who walks righteously and speaks uprightly, who despises the gain of oppressions, who shakes his hands, lest they hold a bribe, who stops his ears from hearing of bloodshed and shuts his eyes from looking on evil,
16 he will dwell on the heights; his place of defense will be the fortresses of rocks; his bread will be given him; his water will be sure.

You can always find people who will encourage you in things that God says are wrong. Some on this thread have done so quite confidently. But GOD says to us all in His word that some of the things we want to enjoy are EVIL, they are of darkness and sin, and we ought to have nothing to do with them if we want to say we know and walk with God.

1 John 1:5-6
5 This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
6 If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.

I'm saying this from a point of self-confession, I believe we tolerate way too much from video games that if Jesus was next to us in the flesh, He wouldn't approve of.
