Apostasy is defined as a total desertion of or departure from one’s religion, principles, party, cause.” [1. Definition of Apostasy..] In Christian circles, it carries an even stronger connotation of not being a true believer. So what apostasy means is to fall away from the truth. Therefore, an apostate is someone who has once believed and then rejected the truth of God. Apostasy is a rebellion against God because it is a rebellion against truth and falling away from the truth we are given in Gods Word. We have been warned in prophecy that this would happen in the church, and it did happen.

2 Thessalonians 2:4
Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

If there is indeed an apostasy occurring in the church, how would we know it unless we first examined the Bible closely and then compared it. But what if the church took away and forbid Gods Word as happened. So how was this able to get in and bring such great apostasy into what Christ and the Apostles brought up with such care. It was through subtle and secret changes, done with evil discipline to hide the apostasy that they brought in slowly, so few would notice.

I was doing a study on the Greeks and how they picked up and passed on to the Romans the ancient Babylonian sun gods and system of worship, when I came across a interesting sermon that really hit the issue of the apostasy in the church dead center.

'...Pope is a shortened title for Pontifex Maximus. In Greek it means father. The Pontifex Maximus (meaning king of sacrifices or servant to the triads, as well as the "greatest bridge-maker between the gods and men") was the high priest of the College of Pontiffs (Collegium Pontificum) in ancient Rome. It's a pagan title that was incorporated from the Etruscan-Latin polytheistic culture (700 BC) who lived before the Romans. These early people (just like the Romans) had built great temples to the gods and goddess of the day. They also had a pagan triad. Eventually the Etruscans were conquered by Rome.

The title Pontifex Maximus (Pope) is mentioned numerous times by the early Catholic Church fathers (especially by Tertullian), but it was not applied to a Catholic bishop until much later on. The early Catholics said that the Pontifex Maximus was the "King of Heathendom," the evil high priest of the pagan mystery religion of Rome. This post was the most important position in the ancient Roman religion. A distinctly religious office under the early Roman Republic, it gradually became politicized until, beginning with Augustus, it was subsumed into the Imperial office. It's last use with reference to the emperors is in inscriptions of Gratian (reigned 375-383). He was then urged by the Catholic bishops to renounce the cultic Roman title, and instead grant it to their exalted leading bishop over Rome.

Pontifex Maximus is a name that's being used by the Roman Catholic Church clergy today. Though it may be abbreviated into Pope or Papa, yet it's clearly a title incorporated directly from paganism. Interesting to note that the all the pagan pontiffs or popes held that office for life. Exactly like the Catholics Popes. And their cult members met and elected a successor, who after his election became the next Pope or Pontifex Maximus (Dionys. II.22, 73). Just like the election held by the Catholic Church cardinals to choose a new Pope. The Pontifex Maximus was the guardian of the Vestal virgins. The Roman Catholic Church has simply named them Nuns instead. Many historians agree that the idea for the powers of the pope with the College of Cardinals came from the Pagan College of Pontiffs with its Sovereign Pontiff which had no doubt been in Rome from the earliest times, and must have been framed on the order of the original Council of Pontiffs at Babylon. It's also obvious to any historian that while the Catholics have called themselves Christians, they more closely resemble the ancient pagans both in customs and names. Pope Gregory I (601 AD) said in so many words literally, "We must compromise with the pagans in order to further Christianity."...'

By the time of Emperor Constantine, the Christian religion received imperial sanction and the bishop of Rome became more than just another bishop, and brought in a system of worship from another origin than Christianity, in a apostasy that prophecy foretold.

According to scripture, the man Paul is referring to who exalts himself above all that is called God ,sends his armed forces into Israel .That is when the daily is lying sacrifice is abolished. They shall also set up the abomination that causes desolation in Jerusalem.
Did the Pope do those things?

Open your eyes as Scripture tells us who is this Antichrist entity and what this apostate power does..

Revelation 13:5-7
5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.
6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.
7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.

..
And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet color, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication (Revelation 17:4).

For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies (Revelation 18:3).

The whore is the opposite of the Bride of Christ, and should therefore be seen as a false church. These two prophetic verses are referring to the whore's wealth and temporal power. It's hard to come up with more than one candidate. The whore's identity seems clear to me.

So when are you saying the 42 months of Pope begins?
Here is a good study that shows it...
"A study of history reveals that the Roman Catholic Church was the religio-political power that developed its authority after the break-up of the Roman Empire. It became the effective controller of the European nations that were the successors of the barbarian tribes. For more that 1000 years (the Dark Ages) it “spoke pompous words” and “persecuted the saints of the most high”.

During this time, true Christians who refused to submit to the papal authority were branded heretics and were persecuted. Groups of believers such as the Waldenses and later the Reformers were forced to retreat to the mountainous “wilderness” around the borders of Italy, France and Switzerland.

In Bible prophecy a day often symbolizes a year. Thus the 1260 days of Revelation 12, when the “woman” fled to the wilderness, symbolize the 1260 years of papal oppression. This time period began in the early 6th century. The last Roman emperor, Romulus Augustulus, was forced from his throne by Odoacer, one of several Germanic chieftains who carved up the empire, in 476 AD. The barbarians, who did not accept the Catholic religion, controlled the city until 538, when the armies of the eastern Byzantine Empire under general Belisarius began a series of victories in the Gothic wars that would ultimately allow Rome to become an effective center for the Roman Catholic authority that ruled during the Middle Ages.

Roman Catholic political authority reached its peak in the 12th century, and then gradually eroded, weakened by internal corruption in the Church and by the Protestant Reformation that took larges swaths of territory out of the Roman sphere of influence.

The death knell of Catholic military influence in Europe came with the French and Italian revolutions. A symbolic but important date is 1798, when the armies of France took Pope Pius VI captive. Though seriously ill, he was hurried from one city to another and finally died in Valence, France in 1799. The arrest and deportation of the pope in 1798 was neither the first nor the last of a series of blows to the Roman Catholic Church, but the dramatic removal of the head of the Church from Rome came exactly 1260 years after 538 AD, the year in which the barbarians were driven from Rome.

In Revelation 13 the loss of military authority by the papal power is called “the deadly wound”. But the prophecy predicts that the wound would be healed, and a new power, symbolized by the beast from the earth, would create an “image to the beast” that would revive the persecutions of God’s people, culminating in the Mark of the Beast."

So has the apostasy disappeared, I dont think so, just check to see who is worshiping idols......
Or rather was made to no effect by the first sentry reformation spoken of in Hebrew 9. Those who went out from us continues to apostasy .The key is what is the "us" that makes up the true?

And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet color, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication (Revelation 17:4).

Hmm...
"1. Roman Catholic Church

Catholic priests are expected to make a vow of poverty, so it is ironic that the church is actually the richest religion in the world. The Catholic Church owns some of the greatest art works ever made. It also has vast gold deposits and billions of dollars in assets. It also earns a significant amount of income from the tourism sector as the Vatican is considered an independent city-state. "

I guess you didn't see the question or overlooked it.
When are you saying the 42 months begins?

The two witnesses occupy Jerusalem for 1260 days. or 42 months

1260 days = 42 months.

30 days in a Jewish month
42 months
=1260 days.

All names to include a daysman that some use as the vicar of Christ .

God is not a man and neither is there a Pope called a daysman . That umpires between mankind seen and our Holy Father not seen with approval from both God and man. .Clearly an abomination making sola scriptura without effect .

Job 9: 32 For he is not a man, as I am, that I should answer him, and we should come together in judgment. Neither is there any daysman betwixt us, that might lay his hand upon us both.(God and man)

Jesus, the Son of man on one occasion. One came bowed down in order to venerate his dying flesh. Calling Jesus in effect a daysman .

Jesus empowered by the Holy Father, Holy See, our Vicar Christ as a prophet replied. Why call me the good teaching master one is. . God not seen

Mark 10:17-18 King James Version And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life? And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God. . . .(Not Peter ,not Mary )

No man can serve two different teaching authorities as the onre master either the oral tradition I heard it through the fathers grapevine written in the Catholic bible (ccc) Or the Devine as it is written (sola scriptura)

Vow of poverty of what? Hearing the living abiding word of God .(sola scriptura)

The hearing of the gospel believing God unseen. Or mammon the riches of this dying world spoken of below .The lust of the flesh, lust of the eye the building block of selfish pride .

1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

Why tempt the Lord?

Matthew 4: 7-10 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

Remember the god of this world tried to use worldly riches Mammon as the gospel ,as informed above in Matthew 4 the beginning of the ministry of two.

Luke 16:13-14 No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things: and they derided him.

Who will you follow after today the gospel the wisdom of God or the flesh the wisdom of dying mankind. . mammon ?

The Catechism of the Catholic Church (No. 80-82) speaks of scripture and tradition in this way: “Sacred Tradition and Sacred Scripture…are bound closely together, and communicate one with the other. For both of them, flowing out from the same divine well-spring, come together in some fashion to form one thing, and move towards the same goal. … Sacred Scripture is the speech of God as it is put down in writing under the breath of the Holy Spirit. And Tradition transmits in its entirety the Word of God which has been entrusted to the apostles by Christ the Lord and the Holy Spirit. …

Divine men as dying mankind the temporal or divine God the eternal thing of God ?

Wavering between two choices is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

I guess you didn't see the question or overlooked it.
When are you saying the 42 months begins?

The two witnesses occupy Jerusalem for 1260 days. or 42 months

1260 days = 42 months.

30 days in a Jewish month
42 months
=1260 days.
The days are prophetic years as it goes over in the study, and began in 538 as it describes. Let me see if I can find a more comprehensive one that explains even better, will check to see what I come across.

So you believe the two witnesses killed and tormented people from 538 ad to 1798.

Is that when you believe the beast ascended out of the abyss and killed them,?

Revelation 11
2 But exclude the outer court; do not measure it, because it has been given to the Gentiles. They will trample on the holy city for 42 months. 3 And I will appoint my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for 1,260 days, clothed in sackcloth.”

Revelation 11 is referring to the tribulation period. This is the final week of Daniel's 70 weeks. The 1,260 days are 3.5 literal years, one-half of the final week.

3.5 years

It began when when Jesus walked out in Matthew 23. . the abomination of desolation made desolate.it was then made desolate not will be when a few rocks fall .

The abomination temples made with human hands .The two witness the law and the prophets (sola scriptura) A great tribulation the Jew that was hoping God was a Jewish man as King of kings. A great joy. A gospel explosion one like never before or ever again to all the nations of the world. Jewish believers that were separated from gentile now fellowshipped together as one new body. Christian)

The first century reformation had come destroying kings in Israel a pagan foundation.Like that of the Pharisees with Sadducees.

When the veil was rent there was no Jewish man as King of kings sitting in the Holy of Holies .Satan could no longer deceive all the nations of the word that God is a Jewish man as King of kings.

The walls that separated the Jewish woman from the men (mens only religion no female prophets)) and another wall separated the Jewish from the gentiles .Both walls fell down.

Matthew 23:38 Behold, your house is left unto you desolate. again not will be.

Satan at the end of the age (under the Sun) wil be loosened again then men wil beging building a temple made with human hands

Revelation 20: 3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.

The two witnesses makeup sola scriptura (all things writen in the law and the prophets) .No sign as dates were given to wonder after .

It an evil generation that does look to a sign before they believe .Again we have prophecy sealed with 7 seals til the end of time.
